Breaking: Rochas Back From the Dead

rochas look on lisa cant.jpgThis just in, at WWD:

Gibo SpA’s bring back editor favorite Rochas - which P&G killed a couple years ago after the Fall 06 collection - with the first full collection set to bow in March.

No word yet on who’s set to be the head designer (and no idea whether Olivier can fit it into his schedule at Nina Ricci), but here’s an excerpt of a crazed e-mail we just got from Brett:

Alessandra Fachinetti? Anyone? easy transition from Valentino. Plus, Gibo’s Italian.

Will it look like Olivier’s work? because his is the most recognized, or will it look like whatever it looked like 40 years ago?

Or will it look like Gucci so they can actually make money? What does a Rochas handbag look like that isn’t a violin case?

And how can it work now in the worst economic climate ever, but not four years ago when everyone wanted to spend?

Thoughts?

And, scene.

I wonder if Alessandra Fachinetti is like Lars Nilsson. They keep going to these houses, following big name designers and can never make it work.

Is it them? The pressure? Or the demanding corporate boards that are too quick to drop the designer?

^^agree and I hope that doesn't happen to her.

And I don't think she would be named head designer of Rochas, I think they already have the designer if they'll show in March.

The thing is that I don't want to see her under another big fahion house, and see her talent fall under the weight of a fashion's house history.

But Theyskens create a total new look for Rochas and didn't focuse in accesories, so that's another thing in common with Alessandra.

I wish she get her own brand, she deserves it.

I don't know but all I can think about is those sky high metallic stilettos with the little candy pieces on them from Rochas. They were my fantasy shoes and I still love them and want the brand back just for gems like those. But then again, without Theyskens, who is there that can make such fun delights?

Saw a write up on Wall Street Journal on
the House of Rochas and Marco Zannini.

Very interested as the clothes are made in Italy and their workmanship is very good.

I believe there is a market for sensibly
priced clothing from a great designer.

Hope they come up with full array of sizes...
