Adventures in Copyright: Fool's Gucci

gucci jeffery campbell studded heels.jpgEver since Gucci sent these studded heels (left) down the runway, they've been showing up all over the place - editorials, store displays and on the feet of off-duty models. So it was only a matter of time before somebody stole the design. First up: Jeffery Campbell (right).

Between the criss-crossing black straps and gold studs, we really can't see much of a difference except that Campbell's look considerably cheaper and uglier - the thinner straps and overloaded gold studs really don't measure up to the original's pared down, sleeker look.

But they might go ok with all those gypsy (read: Gucci) rayon dresses currently being sold everywhere from Bebe to Forever 21..

Thanks for the tip, as I also like the knockoffs a bit better. During this economic Apocalypse in the US, I think you might be seeing bit more Steve Maddens and Jeffery Campbells on our feet. We'll see.

It's Jeffrey. J-E-F-F-R-E-Y. JEFFREY! If you're going to be an elitist snob, learn how to spell.

I wish most people could afford the Gucci. People who don't have money dont get great design, then get balked at for buying a "look a-like". That said, all of Jeffrey Campbell shoes are based on runway shoes.

I myself got the knockoffs. I’m probably older than may people who check this blog, have an amazing career in New York and make an absolutely fantastic amount of money in the mid to high six figures and there’s no way I’d paid what the Gucci ones cost just for a trend that’ll last like, what? three months? A chanel classic flap? Yes, I’d pay what it cost. A Burbery trench? Absolutely. A pair of classic Louboutin pumps? I’m sold. These shoes? I don’t think so.
