Men’s Vogue Cut Down

mens vogue cover.jpgThis just in:

Another one bites the dust - kind of.

We just got word that Men’s Vogue has been cut down to just two issues per year.

And apparently, it went down with much emotional fanfare on the part of its editorial staff, including the Editorial Director “welling up”.

Call us naive, but we thought Conde would be sort of immune to these problems.

Guess anyone can go down in this climate…

Well, yeah, duh. Why would they be immune to these problems?

& i'm a man.
& i think men's vogue is... a bit irrelevant. so perhaps in this time of economic downturn, two issues per year will encourage anticipation & better attention 2 trend & editorials.
great articles however.

Men's Vogue has always been on rocky ground. This may have happened even without the economy tanking. I'm pretty sure the magazine hasn't started to regain its losses.

Last night I was telling friends I expected Men's Vogue, CN Portfolio, and Details to see cuts soon.

I love Portfolio and Details because the articles and editorials, in the case of Details, are well-done. Men's Vogue always pissed me off because it didn't fit a niche that wasn't already filled. If I want in depth news/features, I'll go to NYT, The Economist, the New Yorker, the Atlantic, the WSJ, etc. If I want fashion, I'll go to GQ, Details, VMan, etc. If I want boring pieces by Hud Morgan on 1OAK....well I guess that's Men's Vogue.

Why would Conde be immune? Lehman Brothers and Morgan Stanley weren't. So why would some irrelevant men's magazine be immune?

#5 you say it! These people at Fashionista need some schooling on basic economics..

No one is immune. Look at the stock market, this affects everyone!!!!! RAAWRRR

well conde wasnt trading in home mortgages to the best of my knowledge so i wouldnt put them in with lehman and bear sterns which i think you meant commenter 5 as morgan stanley is still in business. further, look at walmart stock that is actually up on the year so they are being positively affected. conde doesnt even have a publicly traded stock so pointing to the stock market is irrelevant.

YES but, #7, MANY of CN's advertisers are GASP publicly traded companies. So when PPR, Gucci Group, Neiman's, Saks, etc. start losing money like crazy, you can bet that CN will try to counter this by cutting jobs, expenses, etc.

people should coment on what they know and for most of the people on this board, it's not finance.

Sadly, this isn't a surprise to any insiders. Rumors of the end of Men's Vogue have been circulation for months.

Also, no one is immune and all publishing companies (small and large) have been having financial problems.
