Lanvin Taking it to the Court

nadal.jpgLanvin, in order to tap into a younger market, has recruited Rafael Nadal, the 22 year old Spanish tennis star, for their L’Homme Sport fragrance campaign.

Though Nadal’s not the first tennis pro to star in a fragrance ad - think Agassi, Williams sisters, Roddick, and Sharapova - he is the first to do one for a French fashion house, which is nice.

But our first thought?

What will Anna think / do? She’s a notorious Federer supporter, even skipping some of Fashion Week to attend the US Open - we hear she even sets up his haircut appointments for him - and we’re pretty sure Nadal’s existence has been all but ignored by Vogue thus far. Could this mean a new male tennis star favorite for Vogue since the Lanvin fragrance might be impossible to ignore editorially? Or will it just be relegated to Men’s Vogue?

But more pressing: Should Alber make Nadal wear a big bow tie in the ad? Because that would sell.

ah this is the best news ever! however, i would have been slightly happier if they had picked novak djokovic!! he's amazing. nadal though is an unbelievable tennis player and is a very interesting pick for Lanvin! I don't think Anna will change her preference of player but I do expect similar news will come up in regards to Federer modeling for some high fashion house...any day now!

Did you see Nadal's body on the cover of New York magazine for their fashion issue?! I think they made the right choice considering the direction of the fragrance.

Didn't Ndal beat Federer at the last open?

I've been wondering when a fashion house would try to recruit Nadal for one of their ads. He's the most perfect athlete to model, and his face is so cute ;)

Anna's (supossedly) going to be gone soon. Who cares if she can't give up poor little Federer?

not surprising. seriously, probably 10 of the top 100 ATP tennis tour guys could be models. and roger federer has the hair of the gods. no product could make hair that impossibly perfect.

Him...mmmm....but he is such a d****. I guess it's because he is the new #1 blah blah blah, Federer is still the best even without that title.

sorry but I asociate LANVIN with much more stylish people than him. It would be painfull to see him in those ads. Why LANVIN why??

yeah, novak's got that snobby european look to him. would've been a better choice.

nadal's been featured once. if he starts getting vogue editorials i fear for roger's mental health because the one place he was always assured the number 1 spot was anna wintour's heart, hee.

i mean, she skipped proenza schouler for him!
