Net-a-Porter Totally Understands Shame Shopping

a brown paper bag for that ten thousand dollar dress.jpgIn light of this morning’s musings on Shame Shopping, we bring you something hot off our Inbox:

Net-a-Porter is now offering “discreet packaging” for all New York Premier orders.

Translation? They’ll ship you your $16,000 Alexander McQueen coat in an unbranded, recycled brown paper bag if you so choose, and that way, your neighbors / roommates / boyfriend won’t have to know you’ve been Shame Shopping your little heart out in the wee hours, and you can just casually explain that you’ve had a meatball parm hand-delivered to your door.

How thoughtful.

I love it! That is funny, brilliant, and perfect for the economic climate right now. I really do think Net-a-porter is the best online retailer out there.

yoox has been doing that for a while. thank goodness because its original lavender boxes were making me squirm with shopper's shame every time i received a package at work. i mean, my co-workers probably thought i was getting presents from the easter bunny.
