The Prada Sample Sale, Now for Everyone

black prada bootie.jpgBack when I was an intern, I first encountered the buzz and mystery surrounding The Prada Friends and Family Sale. The people in charge would give editors certain time slots to come shop, and those editors would then saunter out of work, all, “Oh, I’m heading to The Prada Sale, back later” and everyone else would swoon in their wake.

But this year, Miuccia must be feeling democratic, because The Sale starts tomorrow, and it’s open to anyone.

Where: 609 West 51st Street, near 11th, 7th floor.

When: Tomorrow through next Saturday, October 25th, 9am to 7pm each day.

Exactly What: Prada and Miu Miu, past seasons, up to 80% off. Credit cards only.

We suggest a light, protein-rich breakfast in preparation.

i was at the VIP sale this afternoon... must say, the inventory is dreadful. they don't have much- they have a small selection in large quantities. if you like the stocky shoes with the thick door-stop looking heels then you're in luck. most items were only 30%-50% off. paying $5,000 for an $8,000 coat isn't exactly a bargain.

The sale was really shitty! Esp for men! I was one of the first there and pants are still 300 and a coat was 1300! shitty inventory... don't waste your time... go to the outlets it's the same items for much less. xoxo

I went Friday morning. Here's the deal:

shoes are $150, they're all S/S '08 and resort '08 (more resort). I wasn't hugely impressed with the shoes there. There's a lot of women's clothing, mostly Prada but a few Miu Miu pieces too (those sheer stiff blouses from this summer, the really thick red leather blazers and skirts from last fall). There are a lot of basic black pants for $80, silk scarves for $50, and then prices go up from there. The most expensive stuff is about $1300, but almost everything is $250-800. Dresses are marked down the most, as they're all an additional 50% off from the 40% that was taken off at the in store sale. There's a ton of the fairy print stuff, but none of the S/S '08 knits (cardigans, vests, etc all gone). They have some F/W '07 (the alpaca coats, look #22-23 pieces, the look #2 coat, etc) and resort '08 stuff as well (those morning glory print dresses).

I thought it was worth it, but YMMV.

maybe it should be "Prada sale - NOT for everyone" =]~ My pinched pennies cannot afford to go their way anytime soon. Hello rent and groceries.
