Adventures in Copyright: Buckle Me Curious

marc jacobs and walmart wallet are too alike around the buckle area.jpgSo you probably know Norma Kamali did a line for Walmart. Everything in the collection is exactly what you’d expect - cocoon sweaters, cropped jersey jogging pants, tank dresses, etc. But she also ventured into shoes and accessories which aren’t exactly typical.

The only Norma Kamali accessories we remember are her signature turbans and the occasional sunglasses. Now she can add the patent wristlet clutch to her repertoire - or can she? The clutch seems a little too reminiscent of that signature Marc Jacobs key ring pouch that your little sister, best friend, and even mom might have.

We really love that Norma Kamali joined everyone else in doing a cheaper line for a large retail chain, but that doesn’t mean you have to change up other designers’ ideas. Just saying.

I agree with everyone- those clutches look nothing alike and in any case, buckles are not exclusive to any particular designer.

I feel like the writers of this blog are overzealously labeling everything an "Adventure in Copyright." They need to calm down with the tattling and perhaps shift their focus towards searching for unique fashion gems from new, up-and-coming, or under-appreciated sources.

Whew, that Norma Kamali clutch is an eyesore. But the rest of the collection is quite cool actually. My best friend and I were pleasantly surprised. She snapped up an oversized zip up hoodie.

Ridiculous. Stop the Adventures in Copyright please. We all know designers copy (or not, like this irrelevant post), but seriously, it's not gonna stop. Let's shift our attention to other, less annoyingly trite fashion news.

On the plus side, I did love the NY Look post today. :)
