Biel for William Rast

Nov 14, 2008 @ 12:15pm

jessica-biel-picture-1.jpgWe know that just about every celebrity under the sun has started 'designing' their own fashion line, but this one really threw us for a loop - Jessica Biel is set to design a collection of handbags for Justin Timberlake's line, William Rast.

Sure, Jess always looks pretty, but we were under the impression that her knowledge of fashion didn't go past her True Religion jeans and Juicy Couture sweaters. She doesn't turn up at the requisite star-studded fashion shows, nor is she particularly known for her style - we always thought that her casual look was decidedly un-fashion.

So why the foray into one of fashion's most coveted accessories?

Apparently, if you're a celebrity these days, anything is possible. Oh, and it probably doesn't hurt that her boyfriend owns the line either.

Got to agree with Fashionista! I am so tired of celebrities becoming fashion 'designers'. It is so unfair when there are so may real fashion designers out there who have real talent are struggling to make ends meat!

I don't understand why there is question of Jessica Biel designing, when she is designing for Justin Timberlake's line! I agree with guest 4. Why is it that every A list through Z list celebrity gets thrown a fashion line? Just because you have money to buy whatever clothes you want, get free clothes from designers and work with a stylist does not a designer make. I brush my own teeth...does that mean I should just open up a dentist's office??

I'm paraphrasing/stealing this from one of the Jezebel.com editors, but it bear repeating: if a celeb truly has an interest in fashion, (s)he would be better off throwing her weight behind an actual bonafide fledgling designer instead of further diluting an already crowded market.
