Quote of the Day

“It’s like, your life is a pair of amazing, limited-edition Louboutins. You can either wear them, or just look at them.” - Faran, in a discussion on life (and fashion), last night.

That was what I was going to say...I don't know if that quote was even worth posting--it just makes Faran and Fashionista in general look pretentious and shallow (aside from the obvious joke). Oh wait! You ARE pretentious and shallow! Stop trying to be Carrie Bradshaw, please.

You don't see Vogue quote Wintour with, "Life is not unlike my Prada dress, same shit different day." Keep it professional Fashionista. If we wanted fangirl rundowns of fashion, I believe we'd go elsewhere.

lol @ #11.

faran's comment is not deep, but i don't think it was intended to be...it is funny and i'm sure it was said with a sense of humor. i love faran and totally miss her on this site. i bet she is a riot!

#11...your Wintour quote is so so so good...why can't you be the founding editor of something so everyone can see that?!

i agree with comment 12. it was funny! i think it has the potential to be deeper. like you can either wear your expensive shoes and do something with them or you can keep them in your closet and just look at them. sometimes you have to live your life and take chances (aka potentially ruining them). okay... reading to much into it. but it made me smile.

i agree with number 12.
not sure why such self righteous people decide to hate on the writers of a fashion blog. it's all for fun, entertainment, and a little insight. get a grip. i'm sure faran doesn't think of herself as buddha; it was just an analogy.

Not to air my personal grievances here, but when someone applies to be your intern, even if you can't/won't hire them, an email saying so is a common courtesy. No need to be pally-pally with me, but letting me off the hook graciously would have been appreciated. this quote is obviously a joke, so it's not "unprofessional," however, not sending an email??

i've applied for many jobs where i never heard back even after i've called the company numerous times. don't know why this is even relevant to the quote but giving a reply to everyone who applies is not a common courtesy.

21-The unprofessional remark by someone else--the quote is not unprofessional, but in my opinion, their behavior was. This is a blog, not a company, and the people running it have put up my tip within a few minutes of emailing. Not so difficult to fire off a "sorry we were swamped with applications, you didn't fit the bill, best of luck" email. Takes 20 seconds, max.

It doesn't matter anymore, since I was able to get a job with a stylist.

yes, it is definitely not common to receive a rejection reply unless you are one of the final two people or something, nor should it be expected. save yourself the heartache/minor annoyance now and get used to it.

My problem with the analogy is that it's awkward. You can't really just "look at your life" -- you have to live/aka "wear" your life. But I get it: you can be timid or "amazing, limited-edition" in how you go about it. This is a pretty trite observation. As someone said above, it's straight-up Bradshaw.

If Faran was stoned when she said it, it becomes more amusing.

First if you do not like this site...BUZZ off...Have Americans become so uptight that they have to say something bad about people...its either 'EVERYONE HATE FARAN' or 'THE BLOG IS SO PRETENTIOUS' comments....I think yall lives are fucked up and you are in need of desperate ATTENTION that you are taking your frustration on others....fashion is WAY more than this....simple: NO LIKE THIS BLOG, SLEEP.

#29 I don't think it's just that people want to hate on Faran or Fashionista, but instead they know this site can be better than what it's become, what with it featuring ridiculous subject matter that hardly interests its readers/viewers/whatever. I remember this site used to be fun, optimistic, and excited about fashion, now the writing comes across as, yes, pretentious, cynical, and snobby. When you've got a problem with a friend, you tell them. You don't just brush it off and let it keep bothering you or end the relationship without a goodbye. That's the way people are treating fashionista, as a friend they want to repair their relationship with and help them realize they can be better. THAT'S an analogy the team should be thinking about.

And P.S., if everyone needed the attention, they wouldn't be posting hate comments anonymously on a fashion blog.
