Keds are For the Cool Kids

keds and genart made a pretty sneaker.jpgKeds were our sneaker of choice in grade school, but they haven’t been since - and we’re sure we’re not alone in this.

But have you seen the sneakers they had some GenArt kids design?

At left, is the limited-edition design by artist Anne Faith Nichols, of British Columbia. They’re blue, there’s a bird, they’re $60 and they even come in half sizes - in short, they’re kind of perfect for jeans on the weekends and printed mini-dresses for Spring.

Plus, wearing them around would be a little like time traveling - and who didn’t want to do that in sixth grade?

I've actually kind of been into Keds since I saw them in Teen Vogue a few years back. I've also seen quite a few models wearing them as an alternative to the boyish Vans when they want something a little more sleek.

Soooo... pretty much I want those.

Keds were also on Karen Walker's runway for next season. They're making a comeback!

I've been meaning to buy some Keds for a while.

On the website you can even design your own. It's cooler than custom Vans cause you can upload pictures and stuff. I think it's about $70 to do that.

I wore amazingly ugly brick-orange keds for two years in college. Does that make me ahead of my times?

i always wore keds as a kid because they were the only sneakers that fit my narrow foot, thus i hated them. now i have a red pair of champions, and they still fit better than my boring blue vans. and i get compliments on them all the time. plus, they're machine washable! doubly-awesome.
