Everybody’s talking about how Graydon Carter’s announced that the party for the 2009 Oscars in February will be a little more subdued than in years past (due to, of course, the economy.)
But we can’t get over the date – February 22nd.
Because as you probably know, the CFDA’s had New York Fashion Week pushed down a little further on the calendar to accommodate London Fashion Week a little better, and the shows won’t start until February 20th.
Which means all those pop tarts and serious-to-semi-serious actresses who look to major front rows for exposure and fashion cred will probably have to skip the last couple days in order to be in LA for fittings/makeup trials/etc.
So, bad for the designers, or a blessing to everybody who hated dealing with their entourages anyway?

i adore that dress.
I know the PR is good for the designers, but, blech. Fewer celebs sounds good to me.
(Psst — it’s not “less,” it’s “fewer” celebrities.)
#2 Psst–the title doesn’t say “less celebrities” it says “less celebrity.” So, in this case, using “less” is correct because “celebrity” as it is used in the title is a mass noun and can’t be quantified.
This isn’t the first time it was announced that there’d be less celebrities snagging seats at New York Fashion Week, and it never happens.
We’re going to have to wait anywhere from an extra 20 minutes to an hour while they get their seats. Celebrities passing up a chance to get their photo taken? Never happen!
I agree with PJ. . . they’ll show up, they’ll just be extremely late and more high maintenance. So much to look forward to, eh?
