Matthew Williamson Colors H&M

matthew william with margeareta van den bosch from hm from vogue uk.jpgAlways one to ride a good wave, H&M’s already announced their next capsule collection designer for this Spring, and it’s Matthew Williamson (another one down from our list of who doesn’t have a diffusion line).

Expect neons, clashing prints, billowy silhouettes - basically, the perfect wardrobe if you plan to spend your summer in Ibiza (and if you like being about as loud as a mariachi band with your wardrobe).

The collection hits “select” stores April 23rd (with a second, larger delivery in mid-May hitting 1,700 doors), just in time for everyone’s moment of “I’ve had it!” with saving, cueing a massive splurge without the major credit card damage.

That is, of course, if enough girls come out for Matthew Williamson. We’re not so sure the H&M customer really meshes with his designs - bright, floral caftans meant for poolside sunbathing? This one might have actually done better at Target…

Yawn, Can the folks at H&M please change it up a bit, I mean their tactics are so predictable: designer collaboration in November, followed by capsule collection whilst some other sort of product lunch is going on.

I have a really conflicting view point on H&M and fast fashion retailers. While I enjoy the principal of accessible style I'm torn between the idea of infringing on designers work and creativity... I can't afford a closet full of designer clothes and often turn to the high street retailers but find it tacky how blatantly they imitate other designers works... I snicker at the thought that they even have in house design teams I mean what is their function? Let's figure out how to imitate this dress in the most cost effective way lol

I think it would be amazing if they made original designs and marketed that could you imagine? "This Season H&M collaborates with H&M to launch a line of original designs"

he does actually already have a diffusion line at Debenhams in the UK, which is pretty terrible.
These designer collections would only be good if the quality was semi-good.

I'm SOOOO excited as he is one of my all time fav designers! His collections are ALWAYS right up my alley. And I disagree with you about Target. I think H&M customers are way more Williamson than Target. And Target's lines are always so cheap. The quality is gross. H&M's quality is still respectable. Love! So excited. Thanks for the news.

I'd need to see the designs myself before I judge but I do have to say that the yellow dress on that mannequin is gorgeous.

I was actually surprised the CDG line at H&M did so well, after the mass hysteria of Cavalli. It seems like they're producing less of the lines now, and making it available in even less stores. The MW line will do gangbusters as well. These diffusion lines/collaborations aren't going away. But H&M isn't exactly cheap and I think it's funny how people lose perspective. I found an actual CDG jacket at an outlet for $40 and CDG dress at Barney's warehouse sale for $149.
