NYLON is Not Folding

nylon cover with nicole richie.jpgRumors are floating around that NYLON is folding, so we did a little investigative research with an, um, inside source, and the official statement is:

NYLON is not folding, in fact, their numbers are up.

Furthermore, their PR team is right now working on a statement saying such, which we should all be getting it in our Inboxes very soon. But if you can’t wait, their online team’s already on it.

And there you have it, the story in full. And if you want to hear it straight from our super exclusive source (ok, it’s Faran), click through the jump!

Glad to hear they’re doing well, unlike some others.

And now, a note from Faran…

We suspect whomever started the rumor that we’re folding was someone who didn’t make our It Girl list.  We’re not going anywhere, but thanks for freaking out about it, it’s really sweet that everyone’s so concerned (seriously).  You can email me yourselves as proof that NYLON still exists, in fact, our ad pages are actually up!

Love you guys.  xoxo F (NYLON digital director)

I don't know Faran, putting Paris Hilton on the cover is kind of like magazine AIDS (a certain death). And I've definitely heard that rumour from more than one source. . . no it-girls involved. The thing about magazines is one day you're afloat (everything is going swimmingly), the next day you could be packing your bags. . .so don't gloat too much. Nothing's worse than eating a hearty helping of humble pie.

I kinda wish it was folding - Nylon is such a shitty magazine. How can this survive when actual good magazines are folding?

Far be it for me to say anything, since my foot goes in my mouth daily, but that AIDS comment was sort of "yikes!", wasn't it? Like I literally had a physically jarring reaction to it.

Guest 15, I completely agree; etoilee8 that was in really bad taste...

first of all there have been recent studies which shows AIDS being eradicated in some individuals which undergo bone marrow transplants. secondly, it isn't a nice comparison.

Okay you know what? If a magazine could actually GET AIDs, maybe I could see where you all were going with this, but being that it's really not at all possible in any way, form or fashion. . . I think you all are being a little bit sensitive. If I said "magazine ebola", no one would really bat an eye.

1 out of approximately every 196 people in the world are living with hiv/aids and there were over 2 million aids deaths in 2007. Overall, less than 2200 known human infections and 1150 deaths have resulted from Ebola since its discovery in 1976. while ebola is a deadly virus it has been relatively contained. AIDS by comparison is an epidemic affecting families worldwide that more people should know the facts on.

the bottom line, etoilee8, is: don’t compare fashion magazines to diseases, don’t be insensitive, don’t be distasteful and more-over never make light of issues that are important to other, even if not to yourself.

"I will go ahead and applaud you naked-girl for promoting the idea in today’s bit: the freedom to choose; ya, abortion too but more the right to style."

House of Style, your blog is well written but you seem to have no opinion on just about anything (except getting your panties in a bunch over things). Looks like I'm not the only one who makes slightly off colour comparisons. You want to throw stones, go ahead and throw them honey, but I've got a boulder headed your way.

Yeah? Not so much fun to be talked down to and picked apart, is it? Next time, think twice before you do it to someone else.
