Fashion Is Fun

The Tortoise And The Hare at Parsons Wednesday

vlada at earth pledge fall 08.jpgAs fashions do, the green movement is increasingly out of the spotlight, while its newer, younger cousin, the slow movement (less consumption, more thoughtful purchases, handcraft, etc) seems to be the on the verge of ubiquity. Jump on the trend early at a Parsons panel this Wednesday at 6pm, and watch:

1. Mary Ping, adorable designer of Slow and Steady Wins the Race (aptly named)

2. Hazel Clark, author of Slow + Fashion: An Oxymoron or a Promise for the Future?

3. Leslie Hoffman, Executive Director of Earth Pledge

4. Shona Quinn, Sustainability Leader for Eileen Fisher (what?)

At Wollman Hall, 65 West 11th Street, Fifth Floor (Enter from 66 West 12th Street)

Go. Learn. (Did we mention its free?) But do it slowly.

This sounds interesting, too bad I won't be able to make it. I think it's a fascinating concept though. I tried looking up Hazel Clark on Amazon, but can't seem to find the title on slow fashion. Any idea where I could get it?

Hi there, Clark's article can be found in the special issue of Fashion Theory, Ecofashion, 12.4 (December 2008) edited by Regina A. Root and published by Berg.
