Who Wears Pink?

Tuesday, Nov 4, 2008 / 1:32 PM

mk olsen pink tutu seriously.jpgFun fact of the day: Pink is the best-selling color of clothing in America.
No, really. We read it on page 94 of Influence (yes, we’re kind of obsessed):
Mary-Kate Olsen: Pink is the highest selling color, or so I’m told.
Jack McCollough: It’s so weird. I don’t ever see anyone in pink, but I always hear that’s the highest selling color.

We never see anyone wearing pink. Ever. In fact, this was the only picture of either Olsen in pink that we could find.
Sure, we live in New York, but we hail from all over the country, and Canada, and we don’t know anyone, anywhere, (I do own one pair of hot pink skinny cords but I never wear them), who wears pink.
Do you have a secret stash of pink dresses in the back of your closet? Is there someplace in the middle of America where everyone wears pink and smiles all day?
Let us know, k?

Britt, you need to change your tone. Fashionista has become snob central. Get over yourselves.
I’m pretty sure America is made up of 99% normal people and 1% hipsters, so this fact that MK is after coming out with obviously is related to all the moms, little girls, teens etc.
What a pointless post! Yet again…

those of you calling this post snobby – did you read it? britt never says pink is bad, she’s asking if you wear it because she never sees it…but oh yeah, you guys like to bitch about everything

I have one bright pink sweater and my chucks are pink. I’ll concur with the Sorority thing though. Our colors were baby blue and pink. It was kinda gross. On that note, bright pink can make a great accent color.

Julia Allison, singlehandedly keeping this nation’s textiles economy going.

pink is my favorite color but aside from one magenta dress everything i own (for clothes) is mostly black, grey, and blue. however, in terms of non clothes items i buy a TON of pink. pink towels, pink sheets, pink duvet cover, pink bowls, pink laundry basket. at my old house i used to have my walls panted hot pink too. i think if i came across more clothes that i liked that were offered in pink id wear more of it too though

I have: one light pink $4 sweatshirt from a clearance rack. Underwear. Nail polish. And a lacey tank top thing.
That’s it. I live in Arizona, though, where a majority of people do wear much more color than I; and when I was in college, it was ALL OVER every sorority girl (and wannabe sorority girl) in sight.
When I was ten, though, my favorite outfit consisted of pink cords, a pink turtleneck, and a navy blue sweater-vest.
I thought I was the stuff.

I cant say that I have alot of pink clothes, but i’m HUGE on the pink accessories. Loads of pink shoes consume my closet along with an assortment of purses, scarves, and every kind of jewelry item you can think of. Oh, and dont let me exclude the pink makeup] I personally i think SPLASHES of pink are best. No one needs to be walking around looking like a bottle of Pepto-Bismol.
