Would You Wear

Would You Wear Pajamas a la Schnabel?

rachel roy rocks damons pjs, maybe.jpgEveryone wore suits to the CFDAs Monday night, but what about the suit’s slouchy sister?

We’re accustomed to Julian Schnabel’s penchant for his wife’s silk pajamas, in fact we don’t know if we’ve ever seen him in anything but.

However, we’re not thrilled with Rachel Roy taking sartorial influence from the artist. The designer wore the grey silk suit at left to a screening of Australia last week and though we understand the need to be comfortable at the movies, we think wearing head to toe silk PJs is kind of inappropriate for an evening function despite their runway presence - especially when said PJs are wrinkled.

We might actually throw a men’s pajama top over a sequin mini and tights, or under a leather jacket for a pop of color, but wearing a silk PJ top and pants together and in public is like wearing any one of the sheer runway dresses from this season, the way the models wore them.

As in, improper unless you’re a man of Julian’s stature lounging under your mandelier smoking a cigar with a glass of scotch.

Are we way off, or would you wear pajamas?

these are pretty bad, i was really surprised to see them on the runway of her show, especially since they didnt seem to go along with the rest of her line. But apparently she loves them! i think she also wore them to an Interview launch party

I wouldn't say I'd wear pajama's but this past summer I did rock a brooks brothers men's pj top, monogrammmed and all, it was probably 3/4 length sleeve and only had like 6 buttons up the front, but it proved to be fashionable as when i wore it i was asked where i got it a bunch. I still wear what I consider old man pj's but i think it's more than okay because I don't wear t-shirts and yet so many people are obligated to wear tee's and yet i can't bring myself too. i just find them too casual and the entire history behind a pj is too good to pass up, especially when compared to a cummerbund which is so formal and has indian heritage.

This is about a thousand times worse than wearing a sweat suit to do anything other than exercise. I didn't think anything could get much worse.
