Aggy’s First Movie

agyness deyn in golden axe.jpgAgyness Deyn was 2007’s Lower East Side Staple.

You couldn’t really spend a day below Houston and east of Broadway without spotting her platinum pixie head until she started dating the Stroke and spending more time in LA.

Then she said she was trying to break into movies and we figured she’d eventually land a “punky ex-girlfriend” or “strung out party chick” role but instead she’s opted for the artsy path which, given her fashion predilections, isn’t so surprising.

Up first?

Erzulie, the goddess of love, in Gordon Hull’s T Magazine commissioned film, Dance of the Golden Axe. She blows fairy dust onto soldiers who chop down a forest of Christmas trees.

Next stop, romantic comedy?

didn't aggy sort of already grace a music video? i mean, she sang in the five o'clock heroes song, and so appeared (looking fab!) in the video as well... one would think that means she's already got the music vid territory covered.

gawd, the girl can do anything, can't she? lucky duck.

It was a nice change to see a model turned actress/cameo doing something with the arts which portrays her exactly as she is. Part of art and expression. A model.

I wonder if this is what she had in mind when she expressed her desire to 'act'. I mean, this really isn't any different than what she would normally do as a model if she were to book some sort of beauty/fragrance campaign and film a commercial. It is interesting to watch, but just feels like some director wanted to make a short film about his most recent acid trip equipped with soldiers with axes, pine trees, dancing bears, and an unearthly sexual creature. That, and it irritates me that she expresses desire to break only into movies compared to television or theatre acting AND not care to develop her skills as an actress. It makes her seem like a fame whore.

I don't understand how a lot of these fashion/music videos are shockingly bad.

Notice the top of the screen there is a rough black line ( not the edge of the frame) This is probably what they call a french flag blocking the frame, it can also be seen in a shot later on.

Absolutely pathetic camera man and direction.

The last worthy 'fashion film' was probably the chanel advert with Nicole Kidman (it had a real director!). I think the problem lies with photographers thinking they are directors along with the ease of digital fim-making. There is a lot more to directing than telling actors where to stand and where to point the camera.
