Fashion Is Fun

Friends of Animals Get Cheeky

a cat in anna hair.jpgScene: Crossing Bowery, at Houston, a bus almost runs us over.

Britt: Oh my god! It’s wearing Anna’s hair!

Natalie: What?

Britt: The animal is wearing Anna’s hair!

Natalie: What are you talking about?

Britt: I think it’s a wildcat - on the bus! It has her bangs and everything with some sexy pink highlights thrown in. “They look just as stupid wearing yours.”

Natalie: That’s kind of brilliant.

Britt: More effective than pie throwing, I’m sure.

Natalie: I don’t know why, but I feel like Anna would laugh.

Britt: They should’ve given the raccoon Olsen hair.

Please excuse the blurry pic, this really was on the side of a moving bus. You can read about the campaign and get a clearer, but smaller picture, here.

of course, guest number 2, you think it is dumb. "they are just animals" you're pathetic. As a vegetarian, and a NON supporter of the fur trade industry, people like you disgust me. i love how you think the murder of an animal is "SOOOO DUMB". typical idiotic human response.

fur looks beautiful on the animals... something about humans wearing it seems a little nasty... not natural.

I have noticed that as of late, there have been a lot of posts on Fashionista about fur, but you have not really taken a stand for or against. I get the impression that you are, in fact, for fur or simply think the idea of fighting for animal rights is comical. All of your articles related to fur, PETA, etc. have been exceedingly or just generally undercut the actually issues at hand. I'm sure this is more aggravating in light of how generally condescending this site tends to be. I have no respect for the writers of this blog.

Guest #2, it is you who is "sooo dumb." I cannot even imagine what you think about other societal issues. Animals are living creatures. They may not think exactly like humans, but they have emotions and feel pain. As I have stated before, I eat humanely raised and produced meat, eggs, and milk. This does not mean that I think the inhumane treatment of any animal, for food, or fur (which really has no purpose) is ok. If you really love the look of fur, buy a vintage coat or something. But in reality, fur coats are very heavy and can be stinky when damp (both my Grandmothers owned furs).
Finally, I agree with guest #5. Fashionista, you take stands on so many other things, why not take one on this issue?

Guest #5. Isn't it a little inane to read a blog and take the time to post to say that you hate the blog? Who has the time and energy on a monday to write something that is just plain mean?

#2, I think I understand your logic, but maybe you don't know the following fact: Most animals killed for fur are not eaten afterwards. Plus, many of those beautiful animals are on the Endangered Species list. That's all.
