Jack Spade Gets New Digs + a Concept

jack spade to bleecker.jpg
When Kate Spade signed the lease on a double Bleecker Street space in June, we didn’t even think of the Jack possibilities.

But this one’s for the boys, whether they like fashion or not.

The new store will be half-Jack of course, full of covetable canvas bags and silly knick-knacks you know you need. But the other half will be a Hobby Shop. Jack and his team will rotate various non-fashiony ideas a la Den.

Up first: bicycles! After which we predict all things related to sailing.

No word yet on whether this will take up both the vacant spaces, Biography Bookshop and Eve - or whether half will go to Kate after all.

If you know the answer to that, you know what to do.

If you read the Racked article closely it doesnt say which space. EVE is closed and the biography book shop is not. Eve is also currently under rennovations. I would get my facts straight before posting.

The Bleecker Street mall will soon be gaining another big-deal chain store. Racked sources whisper that handbag maven Kate Spade has nabbed a space at 400 Bleecker (at West 11th) for another one of her accessories boutiques. It's unclear if Spade will be overtaking Biography Bookshop or Eve Salon at present; if you have intel on the matter, please speak up. Those who want to note the continuing mallification of the West Village, please hit the comments.

guest 1&2 - same person - we've heard/read many reports regarding the fate of the biography bookshop, the majority of which indicate it will close within the next 12 months.

no one hopes they're wrong more than i!

Eve closed back in September. I also heard that the Biography Book shop would become a sephora. Believe me, I live in the neighborhood and people are not happy about the 5 ralph lauren's, the olive & bette's, Juicy etc. With Marc its different, they actually give back to the neighborhood. I have a feeling that the neighborhood will not the the Biography bookstore go without a fight. If it does close it will be a sad day for the community.
