Quote of the Day

“The company said it revises prices based on a policy ‘to offer its products at appropriate prices…’” - WWD, on Louis Vuitton’s reasoning for lowering prices in Japan by 7%, due to the country’s economic problems.

I think that this is pretty ironic since no less than 2 months ago did they raise the prices here by 5%. Our economy is way more in the toilet than the Japanese. I remember when you could buy a speedy bag for $450, seriously if they went back to the fun and flirty prices of say 2003 they would definately have more sales. I remember I bought both of my murakami bags at the time for under $1100 each. Now they would go for $1700 easy...... Even sadder is chanel, i mean raising the price 20%? its completely ridiculous, who in this economy is going to spend $3095 for a 227 size metallic bijoux chain bag that was JUST $2795 a few months ago? No matter how divine.

I know there is an "official" definition for a Recession and Depression, but I'll know we're in a Depression the day Louis Vuitton or the classic Balenciaga ever get marked down.

For all the crazy sales going on right now, those are the last 2 holdouts.
