TJ Maxx, You Should Know…

this is the nicest prada bag we could find on their site.jpgThere’s a particularly fun fact buried in a lengthy article on bargain shopping in the Wall Street Journal today.

In explaining the sudden surge in high-end designer goods in stores like TJ Maxx and Filene’s Basement, a TJ Maxx spokesperson said, “With department stores canceling orders, we’re getting additional brands. They have excess product. They know we pay our bills on time and we can’t return the product.”

Whoa - current season Prada at the store we used to get only our socks from?

This shopping dream world has officially hit REM.

the tj-maxx in my town has had random designer pieces for at least 2 years now. i've found prada, chloe, marc jacobs, missoni, vera wang gowns, ralph lauren gowns, and the list goes on. it was the best kept secret - until now that is.

yeah, but those one-offs they would get in used to be at least 3 seasons old, in dubious condition, and still only like 60% off retail

I found an Emile Pucci cocktail dress the other day at TJMaxx for $150. THAT was definitely a steal

We have a store in Canada called Winners (I know, bad name) and it carries tons of designer pieces all the time. Depending on the neighbourhood you might see higher end things than others due to demographics. But between 20-70% off designer stuff by Burberry, Dior, Juicy, Prada clothing and accessories.

One store has Emile Pucci pieces all the time. They never seem to move though.

It's called TK Maxx in the UK, but I've never seen any of these amazing bargin pieces everyone else seems to find. Maybe I just don't have the patience to pull through racks and racks of hideous clothes to find them.

I got my prom dress there; a Marc Jacobs cocktail number marked from $4,150 to $250. STEAL. Plus, I find Karl Lagerfeld there all the time too, so TJ Maxx makes me a happy girl

My TJ MAxx had some hideous Balenciaga runway snake skin jacket about four months ago (it looked awesome on the runway, but horrible in person). I was pretty shocked by the find.

Funny...the TJ Maxx's and Marshall's here in St. Louis, MO has carried designer products for YEARS. Recently I've noticed more/newer Coach, lots of Calvin Klein, DKNY and Gucci, and was recently at a store where they had Ed Hardy bags (gorgeous btw). One of the TJ's actually has a mini designer boutique section in the store that is shopped hard. They didn't use to sell that much of this stuff but now it seems people can't get enough. Plus they have always had layaway, so hey, why not get that bag you've been crushing on, put it in layaway and have it as yours in 30 days? At least that's the mentality going on it would seem.

Even their ads tout the fact that they designers overruns. I always laugh cause the ads show some preposterous thing (guys high end active wear gets stuck behind a cattle rush, blah) and that's why they can buy it so cheap.
