I just couldn't believe the number of teenage people who have probably never been mentioned in Vogue prior to this article. Also, I miss the big spread they do featuring each best dressed lady.
Also, Blake Lively is widely panned for her choices. She loves a good jumpsuit, and so does my mechanic. Perhaps if she laid off the Marlboros, thinned out/actually did something to her massive hair, and employed someone to style her that doesn't work for Gossip Girl, she could be pretty hott. Because right now, she's just a pretty girl in expensive clothes.

oh this whole "linking to the glossary" thing is getting irritating. I clicked on "BONNIE MORRISON" expecting to see her sartorialist flip book. nope. glossary. Once that loads I clicked on "sartorialist" in her definition hoping to see said flip book. ALAS NO. I was redirected to the glossary definition for "scott schumann" is it too much to ask for a link to this flip book?

guest 9, yikes, i guess my exaggeration didn't come through. so let me be clear: there is no such thing as a sartorialist flip book. i only meant that she's been featured on his site many, many times. also, all purple links take you to the glossary. only the red links take you to other types of pages.

guest 9 is obviously offended by all the extra clicking they were "fooled" into doing. they may have even had to "type" something on the keyboard and find out it was not what they had "hoped" and "dreamed." i'm with guest 9, i'm tired of all these "bloggers" going around making us do all this extra "clicking" giving us all this "information" that we may find cool in "2" weeks but now it's just irritating.
My advice, have some eggnogg and find a mistletoe.

This list was almost as stupid as the weekly best dressed compilations on style.com. People who have stylists shouldn't be included on these lists because technically it's not their own style (what was Anne Hathaway dressing like before Rachel Zoe? Blake Lively without Gossip Girl?). If they can't stand out without that help, then they obviously don't have the chops. Also, it's really bugging me that they always include society princesses that really do just spend their family's fortunes on expensive, safe, classically tasteful clothes (Oscar, Herrera, Lauren). So boring. And is there really anyone outside their circles that looks up to these women as icons?!?! I'm also mad that they didn't include models that usually dress better than Raquel...Anja Rubik? Natasha Poly? Magdalena Frackowiak? They might not be Vogue darlings but they are widely known as the top model dressers. Plus where was Carine Roitfeld or Julia Restoin-Roitfeld? Any of the other French Vogue women??? They all dress better than any of those on this list. But then again they are the competition. Vogue just needs to get rid of this kind of nonsense. It's completely subjective anyway.

I agree with #23 it's they're stylist style.
I only think Raquel (the black ensemble that it's mentioned was PERFECT) deserves it....what were they thinking whit Blake, I think they mean Serena LOL.
But if we're talking about celebs I was expecting to see Cate B too she can't do wrong...that McQueen...and Balenciaga, And Jennifer C. should be there too.
I think the Olsens are very avant garde for Vogue.

All Blake's money must go to her PR rep because they are doing an amazing job! I mean seriously why is Conde Nast so far up her ass right now?
As for Bianca Brandolini, they show a pic of her with her boyfriend Lapo Elkan...why would any girl be with him after the stories of drugs and his love of transvestites? Yes the money but still...no self-respect?

Women's who styles get propped up for no reason because they all just sort of look awful on their own: Blake Lively, Anna Hathaway, Jennifer Gardner, Leigton Meester (her style is everywhere and all over the place), Emmy Rossum...Camilla Belle (except she is so gorgeous so I guess she can be an exception), the socialite girls Tinsley, Byrdie Bell...just because you can pair a leather jacket with some cocktail dress does not make you some trendsetter!

vena cava is one of my favorite brands, but they have some hideous designs that you could not pay me to wear.
it seems like blake wears them purely for the label, with no thought to the actual design or how the piece works for her body type or personality.
she can occasionally pick out a nice dress, but more often than not her choices are positively cringe-worthy, such as that awful vena cava maxi dress linked in post 33. and the vena cava pieces are the best of her wardrobe.
she just does not have any style at all. AT ALL. if she has a stylist, they should be shot.

this article is so disappointing. i mean, i don't expect much from american vogue, but this is pretty bad.

Ahaha that list is horrible. Blake Lively = pretty but no style and while I like Anne Hathaway's (and the other girls') looks, THEY HAVE STYLISTS! THEREFORE THEY ARE AUTOMATICALLY DISQUALIFIED. There. While I'm a fan of MIA's style I don't think she's very "Vogue"; they're totally trying too hard with this list. Vogue is really getting pathetic... I'm still subscribed though.

#23 - too true. I look up to many models as my style icons. As much as I like Raquel Zimmerman, I don't really admire her style. But then again, Raquel has been appearing in Vogue photo editorials for the last million issues.

Why Blake Lively?! I have never ever cared for her style. In fact...I don't care for her. I tried watching Gossip Girl...couldn't get through it. And yes, it's great that Raquel's in there but her body makes the clothes look good.

Agreed with the majority of #23. This list is meaningless. It's nothing to do with fashion; it's literally Vogue self-promotion (cover girls: Blake Lively, Anne Hathaway), a few "random" choices such as MIA and Alexa Chung (so as to convince the readers that you do not need to be a major "celebrity" to be stylish), and, as mentioned in the original commentary, girls who purchased not only their "style," but their procurement in Vogue. (See: "On a side note, what was the minimum dollars needed in your bank account for this list?")

i agree w/ 23.
MY list would have been, in no partic order:
-the olsens
-rhianna (i hate to say it, but agreed)
-marion cotillard
-diane kruger
-michelle obama (I have would bet you my bottom dollar that vogue would do this one --sooo obvious. but apparently not!)
-carine, or any other of her french vogue editors (but you cant play the competition i guess!)
-darcy backlar, from vogue homme
-reese witherspoon, maybe? personally i've actually liked a lot less of her style in the past 2 years than in the past, but nearly everyone else has responded well to it. (am i the only one to think that her purple oscar dress was horribly childish looking?)
-katie holmes. there, i said it. idon't like a LOT of what she wears,but i do love a lot of the rest of the stuff that she wears. and she a paparazzi darling, shes currently on broadway, valkyrie just came out, and she just scored the muimui campaign
-natasha poly. although vogue us doesnt really like her. (to their own detriment)

Very pathetic, do you guys do your research of know of anyone who isn't common or a verified 'style icon'? It's funny how Dasha is probably the best dressed on the list, better than Blake Lively who has no personal style whatsoever and needs to disappear
