Now might not be the best time to launch a luxury collection based on a somewhat cheesy idea, but Victor Carranza, a once-busy designer who frequently worked with Marilyn Monroe, is going for it anyway. He's starting his own line, House of Monroe, with designs inspired by Marilyn herself, which will launch at least at Bergdorf Goodman, probably sometime in the next year. He's also creating an upscale denim line, dubbed Norma Jeane, to be carried by stores "like Atrium". It'll be interesting to see who, if anyone, buys into the line. We're guessing Caranza's banking on shoppers hungry for seemingly quainter times that they weren't even alive for. Or, he's just inspired by the success of Linday's leggings. PS. We wonder who'll models these clothes, based on a woman whose dress size is as famous as her face...
