Now might not be the best time to launch a luxury collection based on a somewhat cheesy idea, but Victor Carranza, a once-busy designer who frequently worked with Marilyn Monroe, is going for it anyway.
He’s starting his own line, House of Monroe, with designs inspired by Marilyn herself, which will launch at least at Bergdorf Goodman, probably sometime in the next year. He’s also creating an upscale denim line, dubbed Norma Jeane, to be carried by stores “like Atrium”.
It’ll be interesting to see who, if anyone, buys into the line. We’re guessing Caranza’s banking on shoppers hungry for seemingly quainter times that they weren’t even alive for.
Or, he’s just inspired by the success of Linday’s leggings.
PS. We wonder who’ll models these clothes, based on a woman whose dress size is as famous as her face…

Right, because there's been no size inflation at all between the 1950s-60s and now. I imagine a model or a celebrity will model these clothes, and it will be one of those girls they say is "curvy" or "voluptuous" but is actually just a size 4/6 with boobs--the same size Marilyn would be if she were alive today.
I think the whole idea is kind of tacky, but if it fails it won't be because Marilyn Monroe was a fat chick and there's no one else her size who anyone would want to look like. Come on now.
