The Abercrombie where I'm located always has a winter clearance identical to that on the website but like Brett I have never seen them publicly advertise it online before now.

I'm an employee, and the after Christmas clearance is an annual event. Believe me, I'm not one to stick up for Mike Jeffries, but I will clarify his intent-- he didn't want to join in with other stores by putting his inventory on sale any earlier than he usually does. I think people read a little too deeply into his claim to not have a sale, because let's face it -- we all knew it was coming.

couple comments on this- i've been an employee on and off for 7 years (thank you minimum wage job in my hometown during high school). every year a+f puts a winter clearance on- huge tables of teenagers throwing merchandise on the floor for us to refold every night, and i'm pretty sure this is the first time they have advertised on the web AND with huge marketing in the entrance of stores.

however- working their during break i think mike jeffries might have not told the truth. at least in the childrens store over half of the NEW marchandise was on sale- just no one knew about it. wasn't advertised at all. we're talking sweatshirts with fur and winter jackets marked down from $98 to $58.90. it's one of the first times i've seen merchandise marked down in the first rooms of stores.

maybe the economy is hitting a+f hard but they don't want to admit it?

I just want to say i am disgusted with abercrombie after visiting the store today. I saw a wall of jeans and inbetween them was a sign saying clearance sixty dollars off. So I grabbed a pair and went to the counter where I was informed the price only applied to size four through zero. I personally hope they go bankrupt.

a&f is divided by tiers... tier 1 stores rarely, if ever, have sales. tier 2 and 3? bring 'em on. as a former employee, we all know they have sales, some stores just have much less than others.
