You Make My Lashes Curl

the shu uemura eyelash curler.jpgTo: tips@fashionista.com

Hi Fashionista,

I posted this as a comment, but perhaps you can make it a post on the site?

I’m not sure if you’ve covered this before, but I was wondering if you have any recommendations for a good eyelash curler? I desperately need a new one. I’ve used Sheseido and Shu Uemura in the past, but are there superior brands I’m overlooking?

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Well, we haven’t used a curler that wasn’t Shu in many years, so honestly, we don’t know, but we’re guessing our readers do! So act merry, and go to it - please.

only shiseido and shu have been gentle enough on my lashes. those cheap drug store ones gradually ruin/degrade lashes over time because they don't use the same type of metal (d/s brands use a cheaper, much more inferior type) nor does the silicone pad have enough comfort nor resilience.

the tarte eyelash curler is seriously AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING. i was at sephora once about to buy the shu curler and one of the salesladies there told me that the tarte curler was just as good, if not considered superior to some people...for different reasons.

i'm telling you, i always have amazing lashes and i swear by this thing. tarte tarte tarte!!!

I second the Tarte eyelash curler! It's fantastic, better than Shu! (and it's purple!)

I'm a fan of the Revlon curler. It might be cheaper but it gets the job done for now.

TIP: To get extra curl, heat your curler for 10 seconds on each side by using a blow dryer. It makes a big difference and sets the curl in your lashes for the entire day!

The MAC one is my favorite. Works well and lasts a long time!

Kevin Aucoin - best eyelash curler ever! it has a different curve than Shu Uemura, which never fit my eye.

i also have the tarte one. it's pretty good. the best thing about it is that it doesn't have the regular scissors-like handles!

they DO NOT all work the same. I actually have a two shu's and a revlon in my makeup drawer. The revlon sucks and the shu works wonders, HUGE difference.

I used to use Revlon, and I actually just bought a Shu yesterday, and the second i used it I could notice the huge difference, and even today my eyelashes are still curled.

ModelCo is my favourite ... it's an Australian brand and an Aussie icon but you can now get it in Sephora ... http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P96116&categoryId=C15810

They're all the same mechanism; the difference is the slope of the curve and how that fits your particular eye shape. Trial and error is the only way to go.

I heard there are only two manufacturers of eyelash curlers in the world from a girl at the shiseido counter. I love my shu uemura curler, I don't think its the same as the shiseido. But its so steep to replace.

Before shu, I'd been using that gold revlon one with the weird spring. I liked it when I was using it. Maybe I should start buying that one again since I'm poor now
