blake lively february vogue cover pull.jpg

Check out Vogue.com tomorrow for the full story (Hint: Think “Old Hollywood,” but don’t worry, we’ll remind you) and interview with Blake. In the meantime, some choice quotes after the jump!

blake lively serena van der woodsen gossip girl february vogue cover.jpg

“It’s a nighttime cocktail of a soap, served up dry, with a strong dash of satire. Smark-aleck cultural allusions to everyone from Tory Burch, Giorgio Armani, Robert Mapplethorpe and Rainier Maria Rilke to Eliot Spitzer (Serena’s mother instructs her wedding planner to seat the disgraced former governor “as far away from Serena’s table as possible”) are aimed at viewers whose cultural map was shaped by watching The Simpsons and South Park. ON the other hand, the over-the-top catfights and histrionic lovers’ quarrels are gratifying familiar to viewers who grew up on Dynasty and Falcon Crest and even All My Children.”

“The fashion is just unbelievable. You can watch our show on mute and be entertained,” Lively says…For her part, Lively is entranced by Serena’s authentically local look. “Just being here, walking around, you pick it up really quickly,” she explains. “In New York, you put on skinny jeans and riding boots and a leather coat and handbag, and you take on that posture and character. It becomes very natural.” Lively’s natural style? Costume National boots, dark Rag & Bone trousers, and a Joie cashmere vest over a Ports 1961 white pointelle cashmere sweater, punctuated by Chanel earrings, a Chanel handbag and a Jeri Cohen diamond bracelet. (“They let me borrow it, and now I can’t take it off,” Lively says mischeviously.)”

Under no circumstances does Blake Lively deserve to be on the cover of Vogue. Shitty actress, shitty show, shitty fashion sense.

And they tried way too hard to make her look like January Jones. (Does anyone here watch Mad Men? Or do Fashionista readers only like poorly rated, teeny-bop television shows?)

for the life of me, i cannot figure out why blake lively is on the cover of vogue. she is an actress, a terrible one at that, in crappy tween movies and a crappy tween tv show! yes, she looks pretty, but is she inspiring in any sense of the word? no! if they insist on using actresses, how about one with an interesting life, real talents, and natural good taste? i realize the economy is in the shit hole and it's all about selling magazines...but this stifling lack of creativity is depressing. i would have loved to have seen an old super on the cover instead.

but she doesn't look like herself. I wish they did her up like that more on gossip girl, because sadly for a teen actress playing supposedly the most beautiful girl in new york, she doesn't have much natural beauty. Actually she is not even a teen actress; sorry I'm still bitter about her casting, but love the show (for chuck, blair and of course Dorota).

i'm honestly so sick of the blake vs. leighton comments. this girl can't get one iota of success without a naysayer claiming she doesn't deserve it and leighton does. if it makes you feel better to tear down her co-star down in order to elevate YOUR favorite then go ahead and keep doing it, but it's not getting you anywhere. what it does achieve however, is to make you sound petty and catty.

THE COVER FONT IS SO UGLY
LIKE HOW CAN ANYONE STAND IT
i love how french vogue's font is so chic!
why is anna so obsessed with putting everything in red writing
it loooookks AWFULLL!
red and black every issue
there is nothing fashionable about it whatsoever
i can't remember the last time i liked an american vogue cover

and my opinion is the only opinion that matters
i am the future ruler of the fashion world
im the future karl
trust me

or even take a leaf from franca sozzani and just have the image with VOGUE and thats it every now and then

these covers just blend in with the cheap gossip mags

Gossip Girl isn't going to change your life or help you find the cure to a life threatening disease but my God, chill out. It's fun; the fashion, the dialogue, the characters. It's this generation's 90210 (the only 90210)but sort of better. If you want something deep, go watch a freaking documentary on global warming. Entertainment doesn't have to be serious all the time.
