A Gap & Pantone Mimosa

gap and pantone do mimosa.jpgGap’s mini-5th Avenue concept store is getting a new tenant.

Patrick Robinson’s teamed up with the people at Pantone for a line of brightly colored tees to fill in the pop up shop: “We wanted to create an explosion of color and bring some warmth and optimism to our customers.”

And since Pantone’s color of the year is Mimosa, the explosion is particularly sunny. Gap’s basic crew necks for men and v-necks for women will come in Pantone shades - we really hope they include cerulean - at the Gap & Pantone T-Shop which will also sell Pantone-colored office supplies, books, accessories and general trinkets.

It’s open today through February 8th. We suggest buying the shirt with this year’s color so you can tell everyone you know exactly what an $18 mimosa looks like.

Err..The Gap is a little 2 years late since Uniqlo had this idea already back in 2007 and the T-shirts came in a cute plastic can for only $15.50!

Unfortunately, for people who work in any industry using pantones on a daily basis, it might not be so exciting.

Work nightmares of never finding the exact shade you want no matter how many shades exist. It's ALWAYS like "it's between this and this". lol....

This seems rather dumb. I mean, if you need a lowly T Shirt in
PMS 220, then I think you're in trouble.
Seems a bit of a 'bridesmaid' scenario scrambling to get the $25 shoes to match the dress.

I've read in numerous publications that "brights" are in for Spring '09. Besides, it would be nice to see cute little bright t-shirts worn against the NYC cement this summer.

wow, I'm not a fan of solid color shirts but I think this idea is kind of creative :) Just look at the display!
