Please don’t ask me why, but I’m obsessed with reading Gwyneth Paltrow’s GOOP.
So I was extra tickled today when Gwyneth said she’d be sharing her and her friends’ favorite books, and that friends list included Christy Turlington.
Christy’s favorite reads include Faulkner’s The Sound and the Fury, Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises, and Pride and Prejudice.
Gwynnie’s? Jane Eyre, Crime and Punishment and The Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles, which she says “set [her] straight”.

I am the same way and I JUST read it before coming on this site. I loved that christy was on there. Also, the other lady, from Boston, is described as “Stella’s aunt”…I say it has to be McCartney, correct?
i just started reading it less than hour ago (i’m in class right now) because i had to find an article for an assignment,
i’m addicted, i love her GET section, especially the one about The Uniform, it makes a lot of sense

Crime and Punishment? Riiiiiiiight. I’m *sure* that’s one of her favorite books. Reading Dostoyevsky IS a punishment.

A few years ago I remember reading an article where it was mentioned that Gwyneth was shooting a film and someone was eating a cup o noodle soup, and she tore them a new one for eating it even going so far to say that she would never feed that to her kids. It sort of pissed me off, I mean not everyone can afford to be Gwyneth. So i agree with #5. Stop encouraging her!! Gwyneth’s Goop is just that, Goop. I mean really? Who re-reads Jane Austen? The books they suggested with the exception of Madonna’s are all pretty much high school/college reading material. Madonna didnt even give a brief synopsis of her favorites, which is sorta lame. That said I do like the recipes. the recipes are great. otherwise i am totally unsubscribing because I dont need to know where gwyneth vacations.

I agree with #2. I love the two Get newletters. The uniform and the little black dress are the best.
I loved Crime and Punishment and Jane Austen is one of my favorite writers. I have re-read many of her books. Not everyone has the same taste in reading material but these are classics for a reason. It isn’t crazy to think these are their favorite books.

I think the Madonna section with the missing summaries was a mistake. . . clearly they meant to put a summary in there about the books and from the looks of it, I think they forgot to do it. Made me laugh aloud. Nice work, team Goop.

Ahh, Shantaram. That’s an entertaining read, if not high-quality literature.
And yes, some people really do like the classics. They’re classics for a reason!
