WWD announced that New York Magazine’s putting New York Look on hold, indefinitely.
The collection-focused supplement comes out twice a year and zeroes in on seasonal highlights including the best clothes, models, moments and shows. The most recent issue, with Anna Selezneva on the cover, documents the Spring 09 collections and could soon serve as a reminder of luxurious fashion weeks past.
Our favorite part of the magazine has always been the pictures, most recently by war photographer Benjamin Lowy who shot the season without stepping foot in a single pit.
Officially, they’re canceling the spring issue and won’t make any promises about next fall either which sounds pretty final. Out of all the magazines and websites closing, downsizing or making “drastic” changes, this one hurts the most.

I really used to like the magazine a lot, but reading the biased posts of the editors over there makes me lose respect for the mag. Also, in the latest issue, they had so many things wrong (dates, names). I admit, the idea of the content was always great, but they left me wanting more and not in a good way. Everything was way to short and condensed. Maybe they can take this time to rethink how to do the magazine.
nooooo! i’m a huge fan of ny mag and i always look forward to look. the photographs were gorgeous. oh, well. at least there’s the spring and fall fashion issues although it’s not quite the same. i hope look eventually returns.
This really is painful…I love New York Look and especially Amy Odell! It was always a welcome alternative to Vogue’s collections issues (in foreign languages, so I couldn’t read the text… but then again I read every word of fashion mags so no wonder this is such a tragedy).
