Fashionistas: Happening

fashionistas book cover.jpgRemember way back when Paramount announced they’d be making the movie-version of the book, Fashionistas?

Well, according to a tidbit in WWD early this morning, it’s for real.

They quickly chatted with one of the movie’s stars, Hollywood newcomer (acting-wise, anyway) Kirsten Lea, who says she’s getting lavished with free fashion goods thanks to her role in the romantic comedy set to hit screens in 2010.

At which point, we’ll probably have to add a period to our site name, but whatever.

That book was seriously, unreadably bad. And while I am a lit snob, I also love the fluffy and not especially well-written fashion reads like Devil Wears Prada, Confessions of a Shopaholic, and even, yes, Blood is the New Black (stuck in an airport, ok?).

But I couldn't even get past page 20 of Fashionistas because the book was just awful. And now they're making it into a movie? Ugh.

#1 I agree completely. It was an absolutely awful book. I want to get excited about the movie, but it's bound to be just as awful.

They should turn Fashion Victim by Sam Baker into a film instead. At least that had a plot worth bothering with.

I didn't like the book version of The Devil Wears Prada but I loved the film. I think this film will only be loosely based on the book Fashionistas', so give it a chance. Why would you not want it to be good?

I agree about LiLo though!
