Yikes. We have to say, we kind of agree, but wouldn’t (and yes, it pains us to say this) Olivier be responsible for that particular look?

She does constantly talk about how the costume designer also styles her in “real life.” She is always talking about him. I blame him for her disheveled and crazy look, always. Globes or not.
It looks like the Ricci dress was a Project Runway mishap–if you can’t do satin right, don’t do it all! Like a crazy damn mess!

If she wore it in her actual size … probably two sizes bigger than this one. But it is true, that she does wear the most ridiculous outfits on the show. A one-shouldered, skin-tight little number to her step-father’s funeral? Really?
omg I’m so glad you guys commented on that hideous dress. She’s gorgeous and all but even that can’t save the dress. It’s like a freakin 1997 prom dress from JC Penny Outlet.
It isn’t the dress it is the fit of the dress. If Blake had eyes she would have realized it wasn’t fitting correcting. The fact that it is showing ones “belly” and the satin is pulling around her hips are very unattractive and if she couldn’t notice than she must be blind or dumb. She just got trapped in the “oh it’s a 36 I’m a 36 it zips so it fits” mentality.

I am always kinda wondering why Serena is always revealing a little too much. It’s not all-out slutty but it’s treading a fine line. I seem to remember a black negligee at breakfast just before Bart’s funeral, I just thought “Seriously? SERIOUSLY???”

Yes but in the books Serena is a much sluttier and probably less-likeable character… seriously, a proper ho. Burt considering she’s so gorgeous and attractive to guys (like Sasha is gorgeous but maybe not as “attractive”) so they probably have to work hard to put her in nothing that could be perceived as slutty.

She is an unconventional kind of pretty, yes. She is not rail thin like those crazy 90210 girls, but that is no reason to tear her apart. She is relatively new at the red carpet thing, most think she is undeserving of all the press she is receiving and yet she shows up and puts on a good face. I would not want to be judged on every single outfit I ever wore. Although the fit of the dress could have been better, I think she looks stunning here and her character on GG is supposed to be a litle tartlet.
nina ricci clothes, as with most high fashion lines based out of paris, are fit on 15 year old girls who are extremely thin and have no hips. the sample sizes are too small sometimes even for american models. blake lively, while slender, is obviously not as thin as she thinks she is, and is mostly to blame for this outfit debacle.

She has a great body, just a too-tight unflattering dress. And why is that if Salma Hayek came with that dress on (and you know it wouldn’t be any less tighter, possibly more) she’d be lauded as sexy? Because she is so overtly slutty looking?

i have dressed blake and she is not a sample size zero and she does not claim to be.

pre-red carpet is bananas for everyone involved – who knows what happened? what if the dress got sent to her last minute before she had had a fitting, and it just didn’t fit properly? gowns are super hard to fit; you don’t just order a form-fitting red carpet gown in your size and fit perfectly into it.
so what if someone else fucked up and she was supposed to have the right dress and got sent the wrong size? what if she was forced into a different gown last minute? girl can’t go naked. she obviously needed a bigger size… but you can’t go around assuming that she is crazy and delusional because she is not.
I thought the fact that Serena’s clothes were getting progressively slutty would mean that they were going more edgy with the character but I seem to be wrong. She was only interesting when they flashed back in that Thanksgiving ep and she was drunk and acting like a trashy ho.

Yes! That is exactly what I noticed – her posture was horrible! I thought maybe she couldn’t stand right b/c the dress was so ill-fitting, or that she was in pain. But! Then she went on to make a point of saying to the person interviewing her that she has learned so much from the GG costume designer, and that she doesn’t need a stylist b/c she does it on her own. And I was all “Oh that is not a good thing to say when you’re looking like this!” She looked horrible. And not b/c she isn’t a cute girl or it wasn’t a lovely dress – but the size was too small and her posture was awful.
i think it’s the dress that makes her posture bad, rather than the other way around.

To be honest, i’ve always thought her style was awful (boring or tacky)- both in real life and on the show as Serena.
Either it’s bland and generic, or it’s just too much cleavage, too tight and ultimately extremely unflattering.
It doesn’t help that she never changes the hair or the terribly frumpy pose.
I’m very much suprised by the amount of press she gets when she is such a mediocre actress, and dresses so blandly and poorly. Surely Vogue can do better than to promote someone talentless and tasteless than this?
How about Amanda Seyfried or Amy Adams? Junuary Jones? Evan Rachel Wood?

i dont understand why everyone is always leaving comments about how this “actress” is looking like a mall beauty or whatever. she’s not auditioning for the most beautiful girl, she’s just working on a tv show. whatever she wears on the show, not her job. whatever she wears outside, yes rip her apart. but saying that she thinks she’s a sample size she’s not etc… i’d have a body image problem if i read all these comments that were written about me. It’s not these post’s comments but whenever there’s a blake lively post here, i always hear about how she’s not beautiful enough, she’s not this enough that enough all about her looks. she is one of the characters in a hot show. she’s doing ok at acting, but it’s not like she’s going for an oscar. it’s a light tv show. i haven’t seen much from her other things… just let her do whatever…

no one knows what happened and the rush on gowns and consequent shortage of them during awards season is a KNOWN PHENOMENON…this dress might have been a last minute thing and she might not have had a choice. you take what you can get and if you don’t have a choice you don’t have a choice.
