Katie for Miu Miu: First Image

katie holmes for miu miu shot.jpgThe first image from Miu Miu’s Spring 09 campaign with Katie Holmes is out - thanks to Vogue UK - and ready for the tribunal.

While some might go the “feline” description route, we’re struck by how much she looks like Joey Potter giving Dawson a disapproving face (probably because he’s giving her shit for wearing a designer dress, but anyway).

Still to come are the rest of the images, featuring the gaggle of models hired to flank Mrs. Cruise, including Imogen Morris Clarke, Katie Fogarty, Darya Kurovska, Myf Shepherd, Sophie Srej, Tilda Lindstam, and Elena Lomkova.

Whoa. This is beautiful. I adore Katie and couldn't approve more of her casting choice in this campaign.
She looks a bit like Isabeli at quick first glance here, no? Or am I getting a bit carried away now? :)

While I am not a fan of Katie Holmes, I think she actually looks really great. Maybe the best of the celeb campaigns.

I am sort of on the fence, her body and her expression everything really is gorgeous but her mouth and jaw really are straight out fo Dawson's Creek I can't decide if I love the nostalgia or not. Either way the pic is beautiful.

This is part of a larger tableau, seen here: http://www.graziadaily.co.uk/pub/21publish/fashion/katie-holmes-main.gif

Will there be a vestal virgin temple theme throughout the entire campaign?

I don't see Dawson's Creek at all so I'm confused by all those references. Anyway, I think the great thing about this image is that she doesn't exactly look like a celebrity trying to model (Madonna) but more as a full-time model just on the day-to-day job. I can't wait to see what she looks like then with the other actual models!

No offense to Miu Miu but does anyone see the resemblance to Sigourney Weaver in Ghostbusters when she is a little possessed?

Agree with guest 8...she looks possessed and the body looks clunky and arkward but not in a fashion way

I was hoping for all the background model bitches to be like bowing to her and fanning her and feeding her grapes

But this is ok I guess

Miu Miu have GOT TO STOP using celebrities in their campaigns. thet aren't models! This is better that Lindsay's though, ANYTHING is better than Lindsay's!

@11:

I bet you're not too far from the truth, as there is clearly a Roman theme going on. But I really wouldn't be surprised if Katie's cast as a high priestess of the Vestal temple and the models are the attendant lower priestesses who maintain the sacred fire. But I'm only going on the clue of the fire on the left side of the larger tableau.

Something like this:

I saw this posted right under posh's armani ads and compared to that this is the greatest ad in human history but now that I see it just by itself it isn't that mindblowing.

I hate it. Why does anyone hire actresses to sell high-fashion? The models always do it best. Katie looks like she's trying really hard and I don't like it. But I don't really like Katie Holmes very much anyway, so that's obviously biased. I loved the Kirsten Dunst ads though, and Vanessa Paradis' last season were so so lovely. Good thing Miu Miu's big sister's ads look amazing this season...

I'm quite impressed with this sneak peak, although it must be said my expectations were ultra-low when I first heard about this designer-celeb pairing. She definitely pulls off 'playing model' more than most actresses, and her short hair gives her an edgy Linda air.

Her face looks absolutely AWFUL. Her eyes are so freakish and unnatural. Miu Miu should NOT have used her for the ads. A lot of people don't like her ANYWAY, so they're just turning customers off/away. Let the REAL models do their job and not some wanna be model/actress katie holmes/cruise...

Its fantastic, she looks good, and i love the theme, but Victoria Beckhams Armani underwear ad campaign blows this by a mile, and i cant even stand Beckham to begin with. But she worked those ads better than a model would, worth every penny they paied her.

Oh and when will people get it?They DONT want models, this is isnt Katie trying to be a model, this is Prada using her fame to sell, end of!Thats why we have these famous women fronting ad campaigns, specially in these times, one would think people would get that!
