It's a bag thing. Pretty soon we're not going to have any place to shop.
We've become a fast food buyers where we want immediate gratification at a low price.
I think we need to invest and buy pieces that we love and can wear forever and in so doing support stores that carry these designers (and designers themselves).

As a lover of Saks, it is bittersweet. As a retailer not so much. I own an online jewelry store and decided not to participate in black Friday.
Here's my blog post about steep discounting (www.shopstylefolio.com)
With everyone discounting to the point that the cows have no home to come to, I have decided to take a different approach. Discounting to a negative profit margin does not revive or sustain our economy. Businesses will continue to go under, people will continue to lose jobs and communities will continue to crush under the weight. So, as anything in life, what you give you get.

Saks December same store figure was down 20% from last year. I believe it was the worst in retail for the month.
