Taschen Warehouse Sale

taschen book icons.jpgTaschen, maker of visually amazing books that are way too expensive for most people, is having a warehouse sale at their Greene Street store next weekend.

We know we’re telling you a little early, but even with the books at 50 - 75% off, you might still have to skip a few lattes in order to get some of the better, more popular fashion tomes.

Hours: Friday, January 23rd and Saturday, January 24th: 11am - 8pm, and Sunday, January 25th: 12pm - 8pm.

Because we know all you’ll want to do by next weekend is read in bed with a hot toddy anyway, right?

Thanks for the heads-up! I was wondering if you had any Taschen fashion book recommendations. Some seem a bit too spare to be really useful, but I haven't really researched it.

Taschen's 'Fashion' by The Kyoto Costume Institute is really fantastic.

I thought all Taschen books were cheaper for 2009 because they're celebrating 25 years?

As a seller of books, I can say that Taschen books are waaay more affordable than most. So I find it funny that you say that they are so expensive. So if they are having a sale, then they will be dirt cheap.

Taschen books are absolutely cheap. Many of them are under €10 which is fantastic, especially since their quality is excellent, looking at the content and the design as well. It's true though that some of their albums are expensive - but they are big books, like the complete works of Michelangelo, or come with extras, like a signed this-or-that by someone. At the same time, there is always a cheaper version of the expensive albums, usually in smaller size.
And it's true that the 25th anniversary books are even cheaper, but it's not for 2009 - they've been celebrating for at least 2 years!

Prices vary depending on the volume. Some of the larger books are over $100.

That, to me, is expensive.
