Quote of the Day

“When the economy changes, it’s not like you want to start eating bad-tasting chocolate.” - Olivier Theyskens, after showing his pre-fall collection (which includes a newly expanded accessories line - think bags between $1800 and $2500, and one for $25000), to WWD.

I have to agree with him. This recession is only temporary and there is still a reputation to uphold however $25,000 for a handbag is a little much.

he says, as his company goes bankrupt

also an editorial quibble: he wasn't showing his collection, he was showing the collection he designed for nina ricci

Someone should remind him that chocolate rarely costs $1800-25000.

what he meant to say is that economy issues are for the little people such us ourselves. huge artists like himself can not be bothered with non fashion things..
reading quotes from fashion designers gets so boring.. they are so divorced from reality it s ridiculous
