Fall 2009 New York

Ali Skips the Season, Too

ali michael.jpgThe next Fashion Week rumor will be a good one, we swear,

Because we just got word that Ali Michael’s sitting this one out, too and next to Marc’s cutbacks and Abbey’s knees and Alex’s lack of parties, well, this is just depressing.

Lucky for Ali there’s no surgery on the horizon. In fact, if we had to guess/hope what’ll keep the major model off this season’s runways we’d bet on a cosmetics contract or something equally exciting.

Is it too much to hope she makes a cameo at Luella? Because Ali and Luella go together like peanut butter and marshmallow fluff…

i completely disagree. the heavy brows, high cheek bones and big eyes. she is deff NOT regular by any means!

her campaigns and editorials prove it.

ali seems like a smart girl, she'll do well with or without fashion week.

Ali is definitely not skipping show season as a result of a campaign or anything nearly as exciting. She simply doesn't want to. Too stressful or whatever you say when you're 18 and don't realize the opportunity you have and the fact that it won't likely be around for long. As promising as the girl is, she does not have the eye of the tiger. Reference her recent Teen Vogue interview alongside Chanel and Karlie as evidence of her diminishing interest in fashion.
Also, she's not just sitting out NYFW but the whole circuit!

Or maybe the bigger name girls who can charge heftier fees are not as in demand right now because of the tanking economy, so its a good time to take a season off? Especially because the shows aren't going to provide the exposure they usually do. I think that's more likely.

@7

She's a huge model! ...on this site, anyway.

Maybe she decided not to starve herself for fashion week again. Last season, one season after she made a splash about being dropped from shows because she was less than skeletal, she noticeably was very skinny on the runway.

She probably just realized it wasn't worth it, physically and emotionally, having to reduce your body to its pre-pubescent state every season, exhausting.

"she does not have the eye of the tiger"...lol...you don't know Ali.

Ali is a very smart girl. She is able to make her own decisions...other options.

I don't consider Ali a major model. However, last season I saw her at the shows and she's noticeably skinnier than when she was at a healthy stage that got her kicked out of Paris. I totally agree she's sitting this one out because all that vomiting can't be prolonged. Reality checked.

...or starvation, I may add, has its limits.

She's probably having to deal with personal issues (discussed in Teen Vogue). It's not easy battling an eating disorder, it doesn't just magically go away. Being in the fashion industry doesn't really help.
