Auf Wiedersehen, Project Runway?

toto we're not on tv anymore.jpgA little birdie told us that Project Runway will never make it on the air again.

The source says that next week’s scheduled show will in fact happen to generate publicity and anticipation for the PR brand without ever being broadcast. Instead, it will help establish Harvey Weinstein’s place in the fashion industry - in total, he’s behind three major shows: Halston, Marchesa and Project Runway.

Meanwhile, the poor designers busting their asses to finish their collections will miss out on the fame and fortune, or notoriety, or whatever, that comes from actually starring on the reality show.

The end.

That is so sad. I love that show. At least the Canadian one is still on. :)

That show single handedly cheapened and did a very good job of making some designers and editors look like very unsympathetic and cruel. This was done for ratings or was it a case of them being unmasked?it did little for their stature and authority. I was appalled at much of what I saw. Fashion doesn't work like that and it's a blessing that that ridiculous pastiche is where it belongs....in the can.
I'm honestly not about sour grapes, but this show was misleading and un-reality parading as a reality show. None of the so called winners have gone on to have satisfying or lucrative careers. I've met a few since their seasons and it is the TRUTH. I feel bad for them and bad for the public having been fed such crap.

This show made me truly want to kick Michael Kors somewhere where it hurts. And Nina Garcia is awful. I would never buy her book or take her fashion advice. But Tim Gunn and the actual show were great while it was fresh.

Marie Claire must be sooooo sad that they paid Nina all that money to come over so that they could have PR. Ha. She never does ANY work and is a huge pain in the ass. I wonder how long she will stay on as their fashion director?

So sad. There will be a copy-cat show in no time though. Its just sad that PW got stuck in the middle of all that ownership drama.

Sad but not surprising. Then again, the judges were all over the place, and most of the time it was a contest of bitchy, entitled personalities amongst the contestants rather than a competition between people who actually knew and loved fashion.

i WANT MY PROJECT RUNWAY!!! Now what will we talk about at work on Thursday mornings?? On the other hand, i am afraid that Lifetime would destroy the show. I love the concept and the look and the personalities (yes all of them) as Bravo dishes it up now. Lifetime manages to air a few bits of tv shows amidst endless commercials. I'd rather have it back on Bravo. I sure hope the above post is correct - this is one of the only shows worth watching anywhere on TV.
