If we’re going to be honest, we’re going to tell you that the best part about a Cynthia Rowley show is the front row.
She lives in the West Village, plays in the West Village and has a store in the West Village which means she’s bffs with people like Parker Posey and Philip Seymour Hoffman who are infinitely more interesting than her clothes.
So we’re not pissed that we didn’t get to see the collection, we’re pissed that we stood outside amongst the protesters at left for forty minutes only to be told the venue was at capacity.
We asked one PR girl just who planned the show and she said LaForce+Stevens; the next said it was handled in house and the next offered me a perch in the doorway from which to see nothing but the back of the models.
So it’s just too bad these economy-friendly, “intimate” shows aren’t designed for the same number of people as before. Otherwise, you’d be reading about the show.

too funny– I’m not a fashion person and I was there with no problem.
How is it childish? People write about these shows for a living… so I hardly find it childish to be annoyed when you’re invited to a show and then can’t even see the clothes.
In fact I think CR’s PR is quite childish in not being able to handle the show properly. It’s not just Fashionista who are feeling the gripe of smaller shows, other blogs including The Cut and the Fug girls are struggling with it as well.

you have a right to be annoyed with poorly organized shows. The PR companies are paid a fortune to wear headsets that don’t work and look at seating plans that don’t accomodate the guests. It’s so tired and silly. Don’t be so shocked. You’re dealing with brats working for bigger brats. Missing Cynthia Rowley, one of the weakest “designers” on the roster is an opportunity to go have a coffee and get psyched for the next show, which hopefully doesn’t disappoint. A Blessing in disguise.
