Johanna Works After the Reel World

johanna cox from stylista now blogs for elle.jpgNews flash:

Looks like a reality stint on the CW can actually land you a real job at ELLE. Plenty of people thought that Stylista couldn’t possibly result in an actual job at one of the world’s top magazines, even after others swore it really would.

But now, Johanna, the show’s only-season winner, is blogging for ELLE.com - check out her interview with Rad Hourani - which means she must actually have a real, paid job with the Hachette glossy.

She’s says she’s been working very closely with linebacker Stewart Bradley. How’s that for a reality check?

I was wondering about what happened with her, since she is not on the masthead of Elle as far as I can see.

She wouldn't be on the masthead yet if she just started after the show's finale this winter.
Happy to see her writing for them already. She's great!

I want to know what happens after her contract expires. Will they re-hire her?? ELLE did the show for publicity, not so much to fill a much needed position within the company.

Sat next to her at the ADAM show- she was definitely there in a work capacity, with Kate Lanphear.

It's bull crap is what it is, a sad example of a magazine now run by a fame whore.... and I wonder if ELLE pays her to be be a "Junior Editor" or if maybe shes getting a nice check from the CW11 every month ...

It seems like the ONLY way to a job in fashion these days is through a reality show.. no talent required..
check this piece at http://www.savvychic.blogdrive.com.
It points out just how ridiculous it is that "celebrities" are becoming the "professionals" in the fashion industry.

i'm just glad this became an actual way to break into the business -- isn't that what the show was all about anyway?

good for johanna -- she obviously had the serious chops and soaring ambition to work in magazines. i hope elle recognizes that and holds on to her. i'll be looking for her first big byline!

The only reason she got where she is now, is because Joe Zee and Anne Slowey want to be celebrities, so keeping her around gives some street cred to their "stupid show" (from the horses mouth), in other words a second season...

Obviously had the serious chops=no prior experience in fashion and job as a Chinese military analyst? If you need a reality show to get into fashion, maybe you shouldn't be in it at all....

she wrote a very well known fashion blog in DC, "A Serious Job is No Excuse." She is a great writer. Half of fashion is who you know, and no one in DC working in defense knows anything about fashion. I am glad to see her doing well.
