they would be far cooler if they put an attractive healthy person on the front, no stupid size 6 and below stick insects and no obese trolls either. Curves are sexy great rolls of fat are not
and as for courtney love, amy winehouse and kate moss as icons?? dear god help us all, a bunch of skanky crackwhores the lot of them. If they are our icons then we’re all in serious trouble

I like how the dot on the i and the o are kind of standing in for her nipples. Subtle layout, guys.
I am kind of in awe of how she manages to look feminine even with all that weight, but also put off by this shot being the cover of the magazine. I am all for artistic nudes, but this comes off as gratuitous instead of classy.

it’s not even about her being, “fat.” she’s just not pretty. i mean, celebrities like america ferrara, jennifer hudson, and queen latifah who are “larger” are still beautiful. beth ditto just isn’t pretty to me. that’s all.
all that being said, i applaud her courage–but as a former fattie, i can’t help but feel as if some of that is a facade. of course if you’re famous and fat then you’re not going to mind being that huge. but, if you were a normal person and that huge, all airs of confidence would be completely false.
trust me, i used to weigh 250 pounds before dropping down to 130.

I work with mostly men, and I took a poll at work today – the Beth Ditto picture vs. some random skinny model picture – and asked them which one they’d rather sleep with. 17 out of 19 said Beth…one of the last 2 is gay, and the other is 5’6 with a serious insecurity problem.
Flesh is so goddamn sexy!!!

Not to do with the nakedness on the cover, but still on topic:
It’s so hypocritical to me. On one hand, models and the clothes made by designers rarely exceed a size 8, and then here’s Beth Ditto; fashion muse. Yet, the designers, like Alexander McQueen, still send walking sticks down the runway. The only reason BD gets to wear designer duds is because they special cut it for her. What about the other fashion forward fatties?! Just a rant, I know. I like this gal and all, but I’d be more impressed if they used her on the runway, or on the cover wearing some couture that fit nicely.

Why does Beth Ditto feel the need to go naked at the drop of a hat? I understand that she is proud of her body but that doesnt mean she has to show it all the time (i understand this is only the 2nd time but enough already). I guess its for the publicity? It is also in some ways saying it is acceptable to be obese. Plus why isnt it sleezy for beth ditto to go naked but it is for other celebs. And i understand that its all for the ‘art’, but to tell you the truth it turns me right off the magazine. Im loving the new ‘love’ magazine a whole lot less. Unoriginal and uninspiring.
