My First Fake Louis, In One Act

my fake louis wallet small.jpg[Britt and Natalie sit in the backseat of a cab, on their way to the Doo.Ri Under.Ligne launch, last night. Taped to the back of the cab’s partition is a cute drawing of a cartoon cab with the slogan “This is a happy cab” written above it.]

Britt (to Driver): West 26th Street, between…

Driver: 11th and 12th?

Britt and Natalie: Yeah…

Driver: Yes, I just took three people there, no problem!

Britt (to Natalie): Wow, this cab driver is really nice.

Natalie (to Britt): Well, it is a happy cab. [Giggle]

[Several minutes pass, during which the driver asks polite questions, laughs, and remains generally jovial while wearing his “Dooney & Bourke” baseball cap. The cab arrives at the destination. Britt exits, and Natalie waits for the receipt.]

Driver: Just one more second, sorry, it’s still printing.

Natalie: Oh, it’s ok! I really love this Happy Cab painting by the way.

Driver: Oh!

[The driver exits the car, leaving Natalie inside. As he rummages through his trunk, Natalie quietly opens the door, having decided to wait for the receipt while standing safely on the sidewalk.]

Driver: Here you go! One for everyone who mentions the Happy Cab!

[The Driver hands Natalie the small, “Louis Vuitton” wallet, at left.]

Natalie: [Making a face not unlike Jim from The Office] Oh -

Aaaaaand, scene.

I'm with you, #44. There was a time this site was first on my roll call of fashion blogs, but that time has passed. Fashionista, I understand the dilemma faced with either accepting or rejecting the offered coin purse, and thereby possibly perpetuating reprehensible practices and working standards. However, airing your concerns in such a rude, public, and frankly, juvenile, way is equally reprehensible.

I bid you farewell. There are classier blogs for me to support.

listen, nobody wants to hear you commenters say you are done with this blog. be done, leave quietly with an ounce of dignity and respect left.

most of you commenting have obviously never been in a NYC cab or else you would think it is really weird the cab driver got out of the cab in the first place. and for him to give a fake purse, at first glance it would feel like he was trying to sell you something. but to people who fight against this sort of this, it is kind of a moral dillema. plus, the writer didnt mention anything about being mean. most of you are just making things up.

why dont you really take the time to read the post before making an ill advised comment. most commenters seem to come off as ungrateful for the services which you indulge yourself in and jealous because other people are making it in the fashion world.

honestly, i am so sick of all of you stuck-up "fashionistas" talking about how horrible the fake purse industry is. do you honestly think that all of your $1200 bags are made in italy? ha. that's rich, really.
why does his "dooney and burke" hat deem a comment? a person's clothes does not define who they are.
i'm apalled. you two are rich, spoiled, bratty girls.

MAYBE ALL YOUR READERS SHOULD RESEARCH A LITTLE BEFORE MAKING STATEMENTS THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT:

I have been reading and commenting on this blog for a long time. The ladies at Fashionista might not think so because I have a new computer which will make it seem like I've only been active on the site for a few weeks.
Anyway, the point is, the posts on this blog are becoming increasingly irrelevant. The new fashionista girls are trying to be cute and relatable with these posts. They are creating a backlash by not having any relevant or insightful posts about actual fashion. The most they can muster is news about how much seating is being cut back on at New York Fashion Week due to the economy. I fail to be convinced of any fashion credibility or inspired by this site.
Instead of checking it everyday like I used to, I decided to just read the posts this weekend, to stop giving Fashionista as much support as I used to. After coming across this post while not finding any other valuable posts, I think I am completely done with this website. As much as checking Fashionista is a habit, I'm willing to break this habit to withdraw support from the site.
I hope the writers get a reality check and start giving the readers what they want. If you want to make posts like this fine, but at least let these be your lesser posts and actually have relevant fashion posts. Is it not discouraging that this kind of post ignites the most comments of the day? That is not a result of the types of readers, its shows the decline in the quality of website.
