Fall 2009 New York, Fashion Shows, Slideshows
Spotted at Cat Holstein
By Natalie Hormilla Thursday, Feb 12, 2009 / 8:40 PM
1. A line of antsy editors almost wrapped around the corner of Broadway and White, waiting to get in the show while trying to keep their skirts down and their hair from blowing around in the wind.
2. Teen Vogue‘s Jane Keltner coming and going before the show even started.
3. Vogue girls cutting the line.
4. A slouchy pair of purple pants that everyone will want to wear.
5. Models so busy catching up with each other on stage that they forget to pose or even look at the cameras
6. Revelers commenting on the distinct “witch” vibe and how it makes them think of Luella Fall 08.
7. Model Hollis strutting, posing like she’s on a shoot, and working a languid plaid top you know MK’ll rock at Starbucks this Spring (please enjoy the many photos of Hollis doing something that can only be described as “working it”).
8. A crush of girls in a tiny space, all clamoring to see what Cat’s done for next season, picking out each piece they’d totally wear.

i second what guess 1 said. so urban outfitters
they all kind of look like sandra bernhard
Were these girls paid to pose? As it looks like they are trying very hard, as proper posers do, though not actually succeeding.
Except that last girl, who is indeed “working it”. Her facial expression is so taut and her eyes so focussed she appears to be straining a stool.
Oh, and I forget to say (carrying on from post #4) that the clothes are dreadful, the make-up is almost scandalously bad and it appears that the models have all been told to ‘bring a pair of black ankle boots’ – an instruction that each girl has interpreted very liberally.
Again Europe’s past seasons given some tiype of NYC street vibe. I’ve seen it all before!

This collection is horrible, I do not get the hype with this designer. It is like Elizabeth and James from two seasons ago, reinterpreted by Forever 21.
I’m just not finding anything appealing about this collection. I agree with the above comments; these looks have all been done before.
I’m finding this a problem with most of what I’ve seen so far in this fashion
week. No one seems very inspired or inspiring.
Hopefully, the rest of the week will be better.
I love Hollis!!!
This collection is dreadful and cheap looking. The makeup is hideous and the models look bored. There is nothing inspiring or new when it comes to the collection. Plaid shirts? Most people have been working that trend for the past year thanks to F21 and UO.
the only thing most of those models have going for them is what looks like an eating disorder. i wouldnt take a second glance at most of them… the last girl is the only one that stood out.
The spring 2009 collection was infinitely better – I am a bit disappointed (though I adore the shoes and the pants)
the pants re amazing and a definite must have for the next few seasons. i love the coats and the skirt its vintage ysl meets young downtown hip new yorker. the makeup did take away from the clothes but anyone with a sharp eye and a knowledge of fabrics and cuts will understand the understated elegance and timelessness of this collection. Props to holstein!!
