If Daphne Guinness sounded like she was distancing herself from the POP project after the world pretty much laughed at Dasha Zhukova‘s appointment as editor-in-chief, it’s because she, apparently, really was.
Yesterday, in regards to her involvement with POP, she told Derek Blasberg that she would like to “emphasize that I’m completely neutral here—I’m a free agent! Fashion is my family and I love everyone just the same.” It sounded weird, but ok.
And now today, she’s blogged on the Starworks site that “it was so FUNNY to read on the web that I am on the new board of POP Magazine with Dasha Zhukova and my friend Ashley Heath. It was flattering but not true I am afraid. It came as a complete surprise. A complete misunderstanding! That is the nature of the web.”
Guess the web – er, the Guardian, actually – got it wrong…

Sorry, I’m still laughing about Dasha…
Daphne is a pretty stale joke as well. I am constantly amazed at the seriousness with which these creatures take themselves. She should kick back, pop a stout and let someone else do the heavy lifting.

im confused daphne is an heiress herself why is she considered seriouse. ‘cuz she collects cotoure. clicks to her. that means nothing only that she can afford it. ive never seen her look anything but boring or awful.
Desperately trying to distance herself (bit late though because every report about it that I’ve read, both online and in print, has included her name!), perhaps so as not to fall out with Katie Grand and co (friends??)
Though I have to say, Daphne Guinness is pretty similar to Dhasha (rich idler), it’s just she happens to have better taste in clothes.
Not the Guardian, actually. Pop’s official press release claimed Daphne was on board so maybe she should take it up with her friend, Ashley Heath, who issued the release (and told everyone in Milan that Daphne was part of Pop’s team.)
