Designers: The New Cover Girls

Tuesday, Mar 10, 2009 / 3:01 PM

miuccia prada on cover of ID.jpgLast month, Diane von Furstenberg posed for the cover of Purple magazine wearing Margiela and not much else.
This month? Miuccia herself is winking on the cover of ID like she’s Agyness or Kate or one of the many other models to grace the glossy’s well known cover.
It’s interesting – On the one hand, there’s always the “please just stick to the models” mantra.
On the other, who better to front a fashion magazine than actual fashion designers?
Just saying.

Oh good god I am SO excited about the new month’s i-D now. I didn’t think anythign ever would beat last month’s anticipation, but this just might. I fucking LOEV that magazine. On a similar note, Cheryl Cole? On Vogue? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! even my grandma feels that pain.

I dont like her why doesnt she use models of colour in her shows ?
Naomi Campbell and then Jourdan Dunn in 10 years 10 years are you serious ??????????? And now none. She needs to go away and Im not buying Prada untill something changes.

Get over yourself, #3.
Most other designers aren’t any more diverse and don’t forget Prada was the first big designer Jourdan Dunn walked for, helping launch her career.
Fashion Weeks aren’t the ‘real’ world, they’re an odd insulated bubble that come twice a year – there are more valuable things you could do to help promote equality/diversity than getting worked up about Prada’s show casting.

Comment 3 I agree with you. Commentator 4 based on your comment you seem to condone discrimination and racism, yes there it is I said it! You need to step of your white cloud bc we don’t live in a all white world. I am for sure not buying Prada bc I don’t condone and accept racism. I love i-D but I won’t be buying this month’s issue with Muccia ‘the anti diversity queen’ on the cover.

well said #4
