Quote of the Day

“He’s always asking: ‘Is that new? I haven’t seen that before.’ It’s like, Why don’t you mind your own business? Solve world hunger. Get out of my closet.” - Michelle Obama, on dodging her husband’s inquiries about her shopping, to the New York Times.

Yes, but does she actually have to buy anything these days? Isn't practically every designer in the world literally begging to give her freebies stuff?

Evidence they're reassuringly 'normal' or just a PR moment to try and convince us..

Yet one more reason I heart Michelle Obama.

Not everything is a PR stunt, guest 1. Michelle strikes me as the kind of down-to-earth woman who would say that sort of thing to her husband.

It's about damn time we had a couple in the White House who don't look like their marriage is more for show than for real.

#2 you can say a lot of bad things about W but I think his marriage to Laura is quite real. And frankly I could care less if the POTUS has a good marriage or not, particularly in light of what is happening in our country and around the world.

I love that- can you imagine John McCain even noticing something his wife has on? Political-ish posts on his site always concern me, because of the number of seemingly 15 year old pseudo republicans that chime in. I really adore the writers on this blog-- the commenters appear to mostly still be in high school, though.

#1, she wouldn't be allowed to accept any free goods, because of ethics rules. So she buys her stuff.

Ha, that's funny. Maybe he came back with something equally as humorous as a special olympics joke.
