Michelle Obama in Kors on April O

o magazine cover with michelle obama pull.jpgJason Wu may have gotten some much needed press attention due to the First Lady’s love of his clothes, but it looks like Michael Kors is set to get even more non-TV-related press thanks to Mrs. O, too.

Not only did she wear a basic black Kors in her official White House portrait, but she sports an eye-scorching blood orange (or red?) dress on the April cover of O (which is news in and of itself - the only person to ever grace the cover of O during its nine year history is Oprah herself, until now).

Bruce Weber shot the cover, and Oprah wore Rachel Roy for the very first interview Obama allowed in the White House -

Which kind of makes you wonder exactly why it was held until after Vogue’s March hit the stands first…

I'd have to say blood orange. That's what I love about Michelle. Never the standard colors. Always a couple intelligent hues or shades away. Nurturing, life-affirming colors, rather than the colors of dominance, power, and shame.

She looks gorgeous, and makes Oprah look like a troll (though the Rachel Roy is pretty).

Two of the most intelligent and classy women on the planet gracing the cover of O! I'll definitely look for this issue on the newsstand. Oprah has always been one of my favorite people; Michelle Obama is now right after her on my list. These two women don't just talk a good game; they are out there making things happen. Look out, World!

The Vogue interview didn't take place in the White House--Michelle was interviewed on the Amtrak train from 30th St. Station in Philadelphia to DC, and then in the hotel she and her family were staying in prior to the inauguration.

It's an interesting cover that is quite a contradiction. The blurb says first interview from the white House, but there is nothing to indicate that from it's surroundings, only the presence of Michelle Obama? Sorry i'm not much of a fashionista, but i do know cut and style and these ladies have the money to ensure both. I'm not getting the post of Ms Winfrey's hands; is she getting her 'being in the presence of the Dalai Llhama thing' going on? It's an interesting cover as to me it speaks of a power struggle and Michelle wins hands down, SHE, represents the White House, but I think Ms Obama isn't giving in lightly tho', there's still a bit of a putting in her place thing going on there. She gets to call the shots on the photo shown and looks to me she picked the neutral one telling Michelle, 'i put your husband there'. Ego runa amok.

Normally I do not blog but felt it was my duty to respond. Some of you people think everyone is a liar. If the guest that posted on 03.07.09 at 6:01 will look at the picture it is very clear that the Washington monument is in the background. I am sure when you buy the mag (if you waited to make your judgements after it came out) you will see pictures from the white house. Why do you think there is a power struggle? Did it ever occur to you that Oprah may be just in a very calm and inspired moment. She obviously wanted this picture to come across a certain way. And for most Americans I am sure it did. For me it is more than that. It is two women damn near the most powerful women in America. I salute the cover I love it and what it stands for. Finally!
