Rodarte Kills It

actual rodarte ad.jpgScratch that.

This is Rodarte’s first ad, which ran in Anthem magazine’s Fall issue. It actually grew from a project between photographer Autumn de Wilde and Karen Elson, which means it wasn’t necessarily intended for an ad campaign, though it ended up as a crystal clear advertisement tucked in the front of the glossy.

Don’t know how it flew over everyone’s head (ours included), but this ad, which grants a much better view of Kate and Laura’s skills, is sick. Which makes the ad below - the one everyone’s flipping out over today - their second campaign, not first.

Just saying.

Agree with number 2. You and Natalie are really crap at writing, the entire last paragraph is really hard to crack, its construction abismal.

And the use of the word "sick"? Just like people can tell when something is written by one of their favorite authors , spotting something by one of your least favorites is as easy.

I don't know how you manage it but, at least under my taste, your posts are always , quite bluntly, annoying.

Guests 2 & 3...relax

Britt and Natalie, stick to your style of writing. If writers changed their voices because a select few didn't enjoy them many great writers wouldn't be nearly as influential or original. Who wants to read something that sounds like everything else out there? To each his own but guests 2 & 3, chill and let them do their job with a little personality.

Guest 3... Seriously? Childish. At best. If you're not a fan, simply scroll to the bottom, and then stop reading when you see it was written by Britt. Wasn't that easy? Now if only we could find a simple solution to your attitude...

Classic that while critiquing the sentence construction, #3 spelled "abysmal" as "abismal."

Classic.

This ad is amazing, I hope it's a series, and not just a stand-alone.

Guests #2 and #3... really? REALLY? I mean, don't come here then, seriously. If you don't like the taste, stop ordering the dish.

Um... maybe it is because im not familiar with Rodarte... or because the sheer number of murders in my city... or because i saw something similar in TV already.... but (and i know this is probably heresy)... i dont find the ad that amazingly good. I, in fact... (imagine my voice shrinks down to a squeal) dont find it to be effective at all and graphically amateurish?? AYYYY dont hate me.

9- agreed. it is a bit amateurish. maybe the models should
stick to being models and not art direction. sorry, not
everyone is good at everything.
2/3- i understand your pain. this reeks of damage control.

There are like a bajillion fashion blogs!!! If you hate this one so much why do you keep coming back and giving them extra page views by repeatedly leaving your nasty comments?!

9 & 10 - i agree, but it's still sort of cool. i feel like its at least somewhat different from what ive seen in a while.

it annoys me that "rodarte" is so difficult to read, though.
