Spring Shoes & Good Deeds

belle by sigerson morrison can drive.jpgWe’re always a fan of doing good while shopping - a trend that peaks during the holidays and then goes into hiding the rest of the year.

So we were thrilled to see these signs in the Belle by Sigerson Morrison windows on our street.

They’re holding a spring canned food drive and giving you major shoe discounts.

You bring in ten cans, you get 10% off, fifteen cans for 15% off, twenty cans for 20%off - it stops there. You can’t bring in one hundred cans for 100% off but it’s still about the easiest way to catch a break on these perfect sandals while doing a very good deed.

That sounds like a nice idea, but I bet they won't have that many takers because carrying that many cans is rather unwieldy.

If a shoe costs, say, $350, it'd be $280 at 20% off, but then you would have spent 15 bucks on the canned goods (assuming they were $0.75 each), so the shoes would really be $295, which is still a good deal -- but then you'd have to add another ten bucks or so for cab fare from the grocery store.

good news - that sigerson morrison is definitely within walking distance of the whole foods on bowery. there are also some small food stores in the area that might sell canned food for cheaper- there's one right around the corner from sigerson that would be worth checking out. so go for it!

I know Whole Foods is a few blocks away, but it's still hard to carry 20 cans of food that far! (At least for me; maybe some other fashionistas are stronger.)

Maybe they'd let you drop off some and then run back to the store and get some more :P

Do you realize that you are actually complaining about a discount here? Think of it as a work out, haul your butt down there with your 20 cans, shed a few calories and reap the rewards of discounted shoes.....duh
