Streetwalker: WoMan of the Hour

tancha streetwalker small.jpgTancha, 21, fashion student

Got Her: Off Rue Etienne Marcel, headed to her internship at Gaspard Yurkievich.

Stalked Her: Because we’ve been wandering Paris for days looking for the perfect flat lace-up oxfords - and she has them.

Shot Her: Because she’s essentially wearing a men’s suit and still looks feminine. She managed to balance the boxy shape with the flash of ankle and bright silk scarf.

She Says: “I’m from Thailand, so a lot of my inspiration comes from there. But I had to get to Paris because fashion’s an artistic thing here and that’s what I need to be surrounded by.”

We Say: That outfit (and shoes!) were made for walking Paris.

"Because she’s essentially wearing a men’s suit and still looks feminine."

It actually took me about 30 seconds to figure out this was a woman. First impression was definitely that it was a man. Not crazy about the outfit overall... a bit too overwhelming for someone small-framed.

Is it me or does EVERY Streetwalker appear to be five feet or less? It has to be the photography because I assume Fashionista doesn't have a thing against us tall peeps. :p

"um, eww" -- hate to break it to you, but the girl looks pretty chic to me. Tell it to your Tori Birch flats, maybe?

#4 Did you intentionally misspell Tory Burch because you are so above them?

If this girl is as short as this picture makes her appear then those proportions are doing her no favors.

i think this outfit could be amazing on someone that was taller/it fit correctly/was a man.

Don't be so critical. I have a hunch this looked amazing in person. As for the height issue, I'm assuming Amanda's taller than most of her streetwalker subjects - something she could consider more when photographing, but nothing to chop her head off for.

#7, this is #2. I hardly chopped off anyone's head with my comment. The perception of extreme shortness in Streetwalker subjects was happening well before Amanda started taking the pics. (Unless every former Streetwalker photographer is a giraffe, and in that case yes, I recommend *not* snapping downward at people!)

I agree that Tancha probably looked great in person.

As a snapshot it is actually a really nice picture and I enjoy the shy looking pose, but as fashion photography it is just lousy. All the shadows and bad lighting makes it nearly impossible to tell something about the outfit. I can hardly see anything. Plus everything that # 8 says.

i think this is great, and 50x better than any of the tacky shizz the facehunter likes to put up there

i think the problem is that the bag behind her distorts the actual dimensions of her outfit
